2 Diode 4W+ Hosts

id be very keen on a dual diode for yellow, i wonder how compact you could get the unit.

Well it could be made smaller... Perhaps two diodes next to eachother would be smaller. You could also get it even smaller if you didn't need the beam coming out the center. For the 2 445nm diodes though, I'd want a bigger heatsink to dissipate more heat.

Yeah, those CNI ones are tiny

That's where I got the inspiration for my design from.

The beam coming out the center makes for a bigger heatsink as well, much better for the 9mm diodes since they make so much heat.

Ya, it wouldn't be too bad to make some of those ^ either. My biggest issue is how they house that and connect it to the battery tube. I personally don't like having a set screw on the outside holding the heatsink in place.

Just reading again and see that this would work in theory with the dicro filters to combine RGB and think that is great! I would love to do a multi colored laser though we would need to figure out the electronics behind it all. Still dont have my green though I won a 50mw from lasersman.com but I have yet to recieve it that whole thing was a complete waste of time I got a coupon code for free module and shipping. I ordered it and then next thing I know the order was canceled tried to re-order and the coupon was not valid any more.. Tried to contact them twice and no one ever got back to me...

This was some of my old plans...
Heatsink like this with a lip:

and threads on the purple area:

Then a cap to screw over top of it all, and a battery tube to screw on the backside driver pocket.

I've been working on a few designs now, and I think I'm just going to make them with 3 diode pockets are perpendicular to the front of the laser with a nice sized tray. You can then do what you like whether 2 or 3 diodes. I am thinking to mount the driver block to the laser head, and have a contact board on it so the head can be threaded onto the battery tube without twisting the leads to hell. There will then be a cover, well more of just a tube that threads onto the head to cover up the tray. What do you think? Pictures to come...
