That doesn't seem to be the same laser pointer..... The labels are not the same....
and there is no price... ::)

Correct. The Laser I bought was from another manufacture. Ive have one on the way for daguin to test. Wont be selling these babys until I can be sure they are legal in my country. Im currently discussing these with customs here in Australia an talks are going well.

Its no good me selling a 1mW Laser that has a real output of 50mW which is my current dilemma. It could land me with thousands of dollars in fines if not worse.

I have tried to light a match with it un-modified and it wont. Wont burn paper either, whice is good news for me so far. My multi meter isnt good enought to measure the amps unfortunately. Is there any other way besides using an expensive laser power meter?

Re: Cheap 1mW 405nm Blue Laser

There is no way to test its power without a laser power meter. You may be able to perform a primitive form of calorimetry by coloring the bottom of a small foam cup black and shining the laser into a few mL of water it for a minute or so and recording the temperature change but it would likely be very small.

(1 watt = 1 joule / second = 1/4.19 *gC/s)
1 watt of power should raise 1mL of water by ~14C over one minute. Unfortunately with low powers (less than 250mW or so) you are going to have incredibly small temperature changes and you would have to use more than 1mL of water.

I can assure you 100% that the laser is well over 1mW. Seriously, 1mW would be hard pressed to even have a visible dot from across the room.

Is this so just for the violet lasers? The 1mW reds and greens can project a resonably bright dot at 1mW.

405nm (violet)  light is MUCH harder to "see" than red and green.  Green is the easiest to "see."

10mW is sometimes not bright enough to see in a darkened classroom.

Re: Cheap 1mW 405nm Blue Laser

Do you have any photos of the dot at low mW's for me to compair to. Ill post some photos shotrly.

Dot @ 12 feet away, low light.

Dot @ 3 feet away, low light.

The Dot @ approx 12 feet away appears much more distorted than the camera lets on.

Re: Cheap 1mW 405nm Blue Laser

Keep in mind that cameras tend to weigh 404nm light very heavily. Invisible beams to the eye look like something that would come out of the death star on my camera. Even 100mW+ of blu-ray looks dimmer than 30mW or so of green.

I'm trying to think of reasonable ways to measure laser power. You could probbably make a ballpack guess by painting the bottom of a cheap thermometer black and comparing the temperature changes with the blu-ray vs the other lasers you have lying around.

Just shone it outside. At the same distances in natural light I can only just see the dot @ 3 feet. Its not visible @ 12 feet. Also its cloudy outside and the sun is setting.

im in australia and would love to buy one. so keep us posted on the customs chat
you might have a lot of buyers here.
If they are cheap i think most aussy enthusiasts would purchase one
:)

would you please tell us where you got it from now?
thanks

I believe his intention is to sell them for a profit. It would be pretty silly of him to give you his source, wouldn't it?

If you find it on your own, then it is your source too. However, for now, it is his source.

Peace,
dave

And again..... what price are we looking at or is that a secret... ::)

Exactly.

Also ive been getting many emails asking on price ect. Im sorry but I cant give that information yet. I have to work out costs ect. I plan on having a website with all the info every one will need.

Once I know, youl know :)

I doubt anyone is gonna buy from someone with 23 posts ::)
I don't know about the other guys, but if you are on this forum just to make a quick buck, then that attitude isn't welcome here.

it was my intention to sell laser pointers long before my 23 posts. long before my 1st post even. ive been trying to get the ball rolling for months now. i had to stop for a while becuase all the laws were changing on laser pointrs here. now that i know what i can sell i can set myself up.

at the end of the day if you dont trust me, dont buy from me! simple as that! no ones forcing you.

p.s purchaces are going to be made over paypal. so people will be covered!

Whatever.
No offense meant, but not a lot of people are going to trust someone who just got on the forum and is already trying to sell lasers. Even with good intentions...

Yea I understand what ur saying. No offence taken or intended.

I regreat annoucing my intentions to sell these before I had all the facts. I get the feeling its annoying people, and this doesnt do any favors for my integrity on this forum and for that I appologise. :)
