Hello,

I have been talking to someone (not on the web) who is offering handheld green laser pointers that are between 500mw and 1000mw's! Now I have never seen anything advertised that is that powerful, the most powerful around that I could find were about 700mw I think. However this person does seem legitimate and has the test documentation. Laser looks similar to the PGLIII, runs on rechargeable batteries and has all the normal safety things... comes with warranty etc.

Has anyone heard of anything like this before? It is just THAT much brighter than I have heard of previously that I feel I need to be a little bit cautious.

Thanks for taking the time to read through!

Provide us with more information such as a website & pics. Also if it's someone you know in person tell them you want them to LPM it in front of you.

Huh, I just had a brief look around and I have no idea what brand that laser is. It's not CNI, it's not Viasho, it's not S-KY, I've never seen a portable like that before.

As a seller he looks quite legit, but 700mW portable units are virtually unheard of. I think I'm going to contact the seller and see if I can get some more information about this unit, certainly sounds very enticing. I have a power meter so I can verify the output of the laser.

The Hercules 500 is the only handheld i know that has been known to peak at 1 watt, it's even in the guiness book of records

well that ebay seller can apparently provide output data for that unit which is 700mw.... then he also can produce a 1 watt. Guess we will see what Murudai comes up with.

Just says that because 1mW is the legal limit in Australia, and he doesn't want it removed :)

Okay, I've emailed him inquiring about it, lets see what he has to say about it. What I'll probably do is purchase this unit then test it with my power meter and everything to verify it's working properly, otherwise I'll just return it within the 7 days and get a full refund.

If it's all good then you should be free to purchase from him too, temp5374. But more importantly, this is an Australian seller selling high powered portable greenies. Due to customs, we can't import high powered greens (even if they're FDA approved). This guy becomes the Australian source for high powered portables.

you can get him to build you the 1000mw for an extra $400... probably worth it lol.
Will be really interested to see how you go.

I'm calling bs for the following reasons.

1) No IR filter. So even if it is indeed 1W output, it's not going to be all green.

2) If the IR diode is indeed 3W, the most green you'd get out of that is roughly 600mW due to the fact that the DPSS is roughly 20% efficient for 532nm, thus proving my point about the IR filter.

Those look like the generic Chinese made greenies; I highly doubt they will reach 1W. It also annoys me how he throws around the term "mil-spec"...

1 watt from a 3 watt diode? Nooooo.....

I don't think so.

Green DPSS lasers are 25% efficient at best I would say!

Not 33% efficient..
