1 Mega Watt Pulse Laser Gun in High Speed

Are you trying to upset me? xD

See....it wasnt THAT easy to squeeze everything in. I would go for some small but powerful fans and torture it with 150J 450V...that should increase the output.

BTW: Looking at your estimation, you did keep in mind, the lamp is not the same as on other SSY heads right? :P
Its the same thing as with the Iron Man Laser Glove: Iron Man doesnt have a laser like that, BUT it reminds people of Iron Man and it will get more clicks on utube.

MAYBE I am wrong, maybe not. Read somewhere 30J in 10ns...depending on voltage of course. My lamp is different...so I just estimated 1MW. Herrursience sold same saying 2J output...noone had a problem with that.
Put a jet engine in a Porsche and it MIGHT be able to pass 600kmh.... ;-) know what I mean?

Sid: Are you serious? You cant compare CW and pulsed op. But would be interesting to test how many pulsed J you could get from a 445nm ^^

Just changing the lamp but keeping the same pulse width and energy won't do anything at all (unless it emits more light at the absorption bands of your rod, but this is not the case here).

If you pump the rod suboptimally on the short side (like 100ns like you said), I wouldn't be surprised at all if you managed to crack it. If you pump it suboptimally on the long side (more than 100us), then you actually start to get multiple lower energy pulses because of the Q-switch.

Because it's performing so well, I surmise that you're probably pretty optimally pumping it and you're getting pulses between 80-120us. Outputting a 1J pulse, this does not create a megawatt peak.

So lamp-resistance has nothing to do with pulse-duration.......

You know what....I will write 10kW...just to make you happy. Since we both dont care AND THE BUYER WILL TELL YOU HE DOESNT NEITHER *WINK*......

EDIT: Not possible to erase something from the topic.

If the pulse duration stayed about the same (which I suspect it did, see reasoning above), and the pulse duration is affected by lamp resistance, then the resistance stayed about the same. ;)

I seriously don't care about the title, it was just a really optimistic estimate. Wanted to make sure that you knew, just in case your buyer was actually concerned about the peak power actually reaching 1MW.

Thanks for the rep! :)

Pulse duration depends on inductance and resistance....I have made a coilgun recently, and I had to work alot with those values.
IF the lamp has less resistance, the pulse duration descreases.

I'm the buyer of this beautiful object. just to clarify I asked to AFZ a portable YAG laser operating in pulsed mode that was capable of doing some decent burning and putting holes in stuff, housed in a unique AFZ's design.
My work needs a lot of precision, but not in this case, the "gun" is just for hobby, and in the case of these pulsed lasers, also a factor of 1000 does not make much difference. AFZ is very professional and precise in his decisions.

:pop:

EDIT: not only am I waiting on a price also, I'm eating popcorn right now

who is really interested can send me a PM, I prefer not to put prices in public threads :)

Will make more of those....for sale. Simpler, and a it cheaper.
Just saying.

Fed...mail me how many PMs you have received ok? xD now I am curious.

you asked if I have any experience with pulse lasers.

Some years ago i worked for a laser research laboratory and we did some testing with a pulsed green laser (yes 532nm). I was used to destroy kidney stones. The energy could reach up to one Joule, applied wit a fiber direct into your kidney. The explosion of the plasma destroys the stone and the little pices vanish if you drink enough water.

Since that day i ever wanted this at home and portable... (the size of the device was about 1m x1m x0.6m)

So the ultimate blaster I dream of has a green beam of light...

:lasergun:

Interesting. Heard of that method.

A visible green high power laser would be damn cool. Any plans getting it done one day? ^^
