You DID realize that is a very controversial "project" and that there would be significant
discussion, not all of it positive, didn't you?
Since you made it public, now you have to deal with alot of different kinds of attention.

The best you can do is to be above all the bickering, and be humble enough to
admit and correct your "mistakes", wether be it the safety aspect or the power claims.

He was referring to the YAG rod used in the laser (the SSY-1 head), not any YAG rod.

YAG rods scale up very high, much higher than 1MW.

To return again to more interesting topics as the power of this device, I just read in Sam's lasers FAQ Sam's Laser FAQ - Commercial Solid State Lasers this description on SSY-1 lasers:

The peak power of SSY1 is something like 16 mJ/4 ns which is 4 MW

This is a kilowatt class device.

An SSY-1 rod can generate a megawatt pulse under optimal pumping conditions. These pumping conditions are extremely subobtimal.

You're acting like a "teen," pretending you're a scientist when you're building "toys" out of illegal US military surplus parts that are pumped completely incorrectly. You've done the equivalent hooking up a 650nm diode in series with a couple AA cells. You're trifling with this like a "teen" would.
