After doing some research and reading up on a forum, it appears the Stun Master 750,000V is THE BEST.

The fact that it uses FOUR 9V batteries makes it far superior to others.

thanks Razako, I'll keep this site in mind. I like the one called "Heavy Duty Stun Master" that is said to be 750,000 Volts. and it's only $79.50. Atleast this website claims it will take down an attacker. How reliable do you think the website is? It says it does take Four 9-Volt batteries, so it must have some power to it. btw, are there rechargeable 9-volts?


great to know you've purchased many different kinds! Might I ask where you bought them? This one is fun to play with, and hurts pretty bad, but if I ever buy another I wanna make sure it's not like this one.

Well I got my mini stun gun in the mail today. I've tried shocking myself in the arm a few times and while it does hurt quite a bit I can't really imagine it taking down a determined attacker. Maybe it would be more effective if you hit someone in the chest or face with it. Any volunteers?

Shocks to the extremities aren't recommended to stop an attacker. The torso is the best target....the groin would probably be effective as well. All a stunning device is meant to do is give the defender an opportunity to get away, while discouraging further attacks from an assailant. I have found it hard to actually hold a stunner to someone without them pulling away after a couple of seconds, but I have dropped a few people in my time (2 of them I know were aggressive and drunk). Be careful after dropping an attacker though. If one continues to zap an attacker after he has dropped to the ground, the police may press assault charges for over doing it (but may later be dropped )

You can also add 4 9V batteries for $9.95, and that still makes it cheaper than amazing1's price. I'm just wondering why it's almost half the price, and if this is the same stun gun? it appears to be..

edit: Just saw, shipping from defensivedevices is $7.79, but even then, sure beats amazing1's shipping.

LOL I hadn't even thought of face..
I shocked my chest, right between my ribcage. It sure hurts way more than in the arm. I only did it for about half a second (maybe less? I'm not sure).
Just try a quick shock, definitely worse than the arm.

I could understand if the police pressed the charges (I guess..), but I HATE it when the criminal himself presses charges. We've all heard stories about it. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Btw, I'm 17, I'll be 18 in 3 months, but what happens if I use a stungun to defend myself against an attacker while I'm still 17? Do you have to be 18 to use them? You see in the movies where the dad gives his daughter a stungun, but that doesn't mean it's true/legal lol.

Well I got Lasersbee's 2 in the mail today and I have to say, I'm NOT impressed. I have heard stun guns before and this one does have a much louder zap than others I've seen so I could believe that it is higher than say 25,000v but certainly NOT 1.7v. I'm gonna charge one up and see. They also did NOT send any pepper spray with my order. The plastic is rough and not put together very well and get your hands just a little wet and all of a sudden YOUR the shortest path to GND. All those that have shocked themselves on the leg or arm, I recommend getting your arm or leg just a little wet before you zap away on yourself.

Mikeeey, I currently have the mini?(small fry), the pen style(lightening rod), and a mini baton (http://www.defensedevices.com/stun-baton-750-k-volt.html two 9v batteries, about $35?). The first two are more for fun at parties, the baton is for self defense. It is just big enough for an attacker to grab the baton part, but that would still "light him up". I carry it in my car at all times, next to the Fox Labs 3oz can. I've experienced a 2 second zap from the baton, on my back, and it was something I never want to experience again. It did energize me for class tho LOL. I have a friend about the size of Tech_Junkie, and it took him down in about 4 seconds (we were experimenting, and are still friends, fyi.)

Cops normally don't care about stun guns. Just don't use it for criminal activities and you will be ok. Stunners are considered "non-lethal" as is pepper spray.

Well I'm really not sure which one I'd want. The baton one looks awesome, but hard to conceal do to it's size. It's cheaper, and it's length is a pretty big advantage.
Then again, the Stun master 750kv is only 1.25 inches smaller, that not a huge difference.
Your friend who you took down within 4 seconds, did that include the muscle spasming too?
I really can't decide which to get, and I'll just have to search around online, look at reviews, see which is better.
Another thing that could POSSIBLY make the Stun master stronger is that it uses four 9V batteries..but who knows.

edit: looks like there's also a million volt baton style. do you think it's better than the one you have?

I'd stay away from the rechargable type, but that's me. The four 9V batteries sounds promising....I like the reach advantage of the baton though, and the fact that the contact angle of the stunner to the attacker is way more forgiving.

Since coldstl is posting above me why not just carry a knife? Guns can't be carried outside the house in CA but a knife is fine. I almost never feel the need to have a weapon on me, but sometimes in bad areas I 'll take my 6" long blade buck knife with me. I think that beats a taser. :fightin:

I doubt the sound of the zap will be influenced by maximum output voltage very much, but it is an indication of the energy in the arc...

A stun gun that starts at a low voltage, but after that is able to maintain a decent current, is much more effective (and dangerous) than it would be the other way around - even though sellers tend to advertise just the voltage.

Well, I'm still leaning toward the stun master 750. It sounds like it's the type of gun that will leave the victim on the ground after you've stunned him. I think I may get the stun master... unless... unless you have another story to share with your baton style stungun that seemed to really work against the other person lol.

I too carry a knife, usually just my 3 1/2 inch blade pocket knife that I got from dealextreme.

You can build a stunner from a mini 5V hene power pack, a spark gap and a couple doorknob caps that would floor most anybody. The hene power pack BY ITSELF makes a mockery of actual cop tazer wands in the degree of pain. Add a couple 500PF 25KV caps and you have yourself something NASTY! It should be treated as a WEAPON though not a toy!
