1.7 million volt stun gun review

TBH, I wouldn't trust these "stun guns" in a self defense situation. Most generic off-the-shelf stun guns are no more than over-glorified arc generators. They are not designed/intended to drop you in one(or a few hits).I've been hit by both and I can vouch for the effectiveness of a real stun gun. You may end up pissing off the perp instead of stopping them...
I'm starting to think the same thing. I just stunned my shoulder for 5 seconds. It hurt pretty bad, but in no way could have taken me down. I'm gonna have to see if upper torso has the same effect or not.

are yo guys just catching the arcs like in human's video?

lol, get your skin wet and make direct contact with the posts and try it!

i just bought one, but i have no intention of trying it on myself. i HATE being shocked.

Of course we've done direct contact! I just did that in the video cuz it looks cooler :p

I agree... attacking an assailant with an under powered Stun Gun is like shooting him with with a pea shooter... it will just give him more reason
to whoop your butt..IMO :gun:

Nope, I made direct contact, however it was through my shirt. I did this because there is a good chance the attacker would be wearing a shirt.. lol. Well I hated being shocked too, I couldn't even shock myself with those electric pens and gum packs, but with this it's pretty easy to overcome it. You simply turn it on and quickly touch your jeans, right above your knee, for not even a half second, just a quick jab. Then you realize that didn't hurt at all, so you do it just a little bit longer, then before you know it, you're able to shock yourself.

I've gone through about a dozen different types of stun guns. I like the stubby baton style types the most. I've found that the zappers that take at least two 9Volt batteries work great, 3 9Volt batteries even better. And yes, I took a scientific approach to testing them all. LOL. Most people will drop after a good 4-5 second burst (torso), but won't piss in their pants unless you get them with multiple zaps.
With a good stunner it is next to impossible to hold it to yourself for more than a second. But don't take my word for it, go ahead and try... :)

IMO these mini stunners are mainly for scaring off and deterring attackers. Muggers or other predators are generally looking for an easy target and some of them will chicken out when they see their target pull out a cracking stun gun or other weapon. Of course nothing can compare to a good handgun when it comes to self defense, but a lot of people don't feel like going through all the trouble to get a concealed carry permit.

If you want a REAL cop-style stun gun then it will cost you upwards of $300.

It seems that the Free Air electrical spark jump spec is 3000V/mm
that is 76,200 volts per inch... which would allow 1.7MV to jump
about 22 inches.. which would be much easier to insulate for...

I ordered samples of these and will check them with our High Voltage
Probe when they get here.

I wonder how much it will actually measure. Your figures look about right, a megavolt will arc about a foot under typical conditions - between spherical electrodes. Once the arc is there, it will short out the device resulting in much lower voltages, but it needs a few kV/mm to form it. With pointy electrodes the voltage required to arc over a given distance is a bit lower.

As far as voltage being useful goes: it might be useful when trying to arc through layers of fabric (clothing). Then again, if you would try it on a leather jacket, i suppose the arc will still from between the electrodes on the stun gun instead of though, even if that is a shorter distance.

thanks Razako, I'll keep this site in mind. I like the one called "Heavy Duty Stun Master" that is said to be 750,000 Volts. and it's only $79.50. Atleast this website claims it will take down an attacker. How reliable do you think the website is? It says it does take Four 9-Volt batteries, so it must have some power to it. btw, are there rechargeable 9-volts?

great to know you've purchased many different kinds! Might I ask where you bought them? This one is fun to play with, and hurts pretty bad, but if I ever buy another I wanna make sure it's not like this one.

What would be a better choice a stun gun or a taser? Seems like a taser has much better results, as past police incidents have shown: Don't tase me me bro
However taser you can only use once? It requires "ammo" i guess you could call it? I dont know the real word for it.

IMO amazing1 is a reliable website. Some of their stuff is a bit overpriced, but overall they sell good stuff. 9V rechargeable batteries do exist.
