1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

I got mine today. This laser looks awesome. Very nice color blue.
I change the two CR123 to one 18650 battery. The spot was way too bright.
And the laser has better runtime. It still punch a hole thought a CD jewel case. :)

Hmm. I thought I posted this about an hour ago but I must have hit the "go advanced" button instead of post and didn't notice it before going to another forum page. Anyhow....

Just a quick note to let you know that an intact mailer arrived yesterday with the replacement batteries. I'm going to be ordering some stuff from DX in a couple weeks so I'll snag a charger then. Now if my laser shades from OEM would get here so I can have a bit of fun.....

Thanks again!

Well I thought my Ultrafire charger would do CR123A, but it doesn't. So I won't be able to charge the batteries until at least Friday. (got a charger on the way)

I do have a charger that will do lithium batteries, but its meant to be plugged into packs. (for RC cars) I'm sure it could do a single cell fine (I would have to wire up a connection) but I don't know what amperage to charge at..

Ok, I see that my Ultrafire charges at .45 amps, so to be safe I set my charger to do .3amps. I've got one cell charging right now at 3.78v, .3A.

Yeah I'm still experimenting with getting the best beamshots.

I did try it for about 30 seconds before charging the batteries, and it didn't seem to be brighter than the Arctic (didn't do a side by side) I pointed it toward a wall about 6ft away and focused it until the dot was the smallest. The beam seemed tighter, and it smoked everything it touched almost instantly. The arctic doesn't do anything like that.

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

Anyone got any tips for taking a good beam shot? I'm using a Nikon D80 SLR.
The best setup I've found so far is in a dimly lit room,

5 sec shutter
5.6 f-stop
ISO 160

But it still doesn't look anything like some shots I've seen on this forum.

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

Ok, it took me a good bit, but I was finally happy enough with these shots to give up for awhile.
Pics are pretty self explanitory, first is yobresal's, 2nd is yobresal's and the Arctic together...

With the beam unfocused, this thing will smoke any dark surface, and some light ones. With the beam focused, it burns/cuts so fast I can't help but laugh. Matches light instantly, they cut in half in less than 10 seconds.. I tried lighting a candle, but it just cuts the wick in half in 2 seconds. Any surface you point it at or drag it across is getting burned or scarred.

Thanks so much!!! I recieved mine today and the batterys are on the charger as I type. I put in the low charged ones, and still cut well. Awesome laser!! I will do a review in the review section after a few charges of fun!
