1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

Amazingly my Arctic just arrived this morning. And I just got a shipping notice for this one, thanks yobresal.

Mine just arrive, so relieved. I assuming batts werent pre charged, although it was labelled "Blue Flashlight" and the low batteries make it look exactly like a flashlight. Obviously you know what you are doing yobresal. Thanks again. Now i just have to wait for my new charger to come to test it.

This laser is awesome. I just shined it in the direction of my girlfriends house (in the sky) which is 4.1 miles away (Accurate Estimate using Google Maps) and she could easily see the beam. She said it was easily visible and that the beam was between 6 and 10 feet wide from that distance.

Now this is when a picture would be cool ! 4.1 is a long way..

glad it made it! Yes the batteries do not come charged although some still have enough juice for a minute of use. Hope you can get s hold of a charger soon.

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

Been playing with the Arctic for awhile, and so far its fine, works fine. But the beam isn't visable outside (like in Dave's pics) so I'm guessing its not putting out near the power that this one will. It seems to burn ok (this is my first burner) but I'm more excited to have a focusable beam.
Also the smart switch is cool ONCE, then its a serious PITA.

3 months of waiting, and now I'm more looking forward to getting this one.
:thanks:

Ordered one.

Any ideas on how to make it waterproof? Cover it in silicone?

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

Ya but u cant really cover the focusing lense or the lense at all because then yoi wouldnt b able to focus it and the lense isnt waterprof btw

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

I think it would be interesting to give them one that is putting out 1050mW and one that is running at 1200mW and see if they can guess which is the 1200.:D

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

ive seen batteries mentioned a few times on this thread but i was wondering if anyone knew about how long 650mah batteries will last in a laser like this, i was thinking about getting the batteries here. 4 pcs 3.6V 650 mAh RCR123A Li-Ion Rechargeable batteries (UL/CE/UN Approved) + Worldwide Smart charger, Industrial use only (NDGR) they are 3.6v working voltage 4.2 peak.

Why would not just stick with the 18650?

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

i dont think you get as much power with an 18650

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

that what i was thinking. higher voltage would be better but im really new to lasers. i only have 1 other and it runs on AAAs so batteries are easy for it. i was reading back a little more and noticed yobreasel saying the lasers voltage is regulated so it wont be to much but if its less voltage is will be less powerful.

Re: 1-1.2 watt 445nm lasers CHEAP $180

I guess I was under the impression that he was using microboosts for these if that was the case and you try to put in two 123A's you will be exceeding the maximum voltage input of the driver. Same if he was using Flexdrives.

But in the OP it does say that he is using 2 CR123A so he probably is using a linear driver that does not have boost capabilities. Possibly a LM317.
