[0 AVAILABLE] FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100-120 Each

Re: FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100 Each

Yup. Just received payment for the original three.

I ordered a stock of 5 more. After that, I will probably quit selling because I don't really want to make this a regular thing. Then it becomes more like a store, and that's not what I want to be doing here.

I will always talk about custom builds or builds I have done before over PM if you are interested in something that isn't listed currently.

Re: FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100 Each

@ infinitus, these hosts cost a bit more than $5, cheapest
I've found them is about $15 including the switchboard and
all that goodness.

As for duty cycle, I was running a 445 in a very similar host
at 500 mA and it did get warm pretty quickly, the output at that
level was right around 400 mW with a standard lens, which was
more than adequate for this size host IMO.

Yeah but he's trying to get the most power with the cheapest price...

I was guesstimating on the prices. I think his overall price is GREAT, regardless though. They just don't seem like the most expensive hosts to me, and obviously there is no heatsink needed in this build.

Yeah, overall prices on what I pay (may try to get a better, direct to source way) is around $80-$85.

Re: FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100 Each

Hmm, I was off a bit on the host, but seems like in the ballpark on the rest. If you plan to offer these in quantity or on a regular basis... Like I said, great price.

Cut the power at least in half though. No fun to be counting to twenty when you want to play with a laser:p

Or better yet: let the customer choose the power! Some people don't mind counting and would rather have the power, but some prefer longer duty cycles and don't mind the sacrifice in power! IMO, if someone wanted a powerful laser but hated short duty cycles, they should be going with a bigger host anyway :)

True, but I'm more mindful of the seller in this case. With a longer duty cycle, people are less likely to overrun it significantly.

His builds are I'm sure great, but technology when abused, tends to fail. What I wouldn't want to see is for him to end up dealing with a "broken" laser for every 3 he sells because some overeager buyers don't follow it.

In terms of visibility, the difference between 500mW and 1W is not that great, but in terms of useful on time... it is significant. Personally IMO for that type of host ~450mA is more than enough.

Re: FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100 Each

Well, I'm not going to be offering warranties on the diodes here. If someone abuses the laser and the diode dies, I will not cover it. These are only being run at 1.25A and, if the duty cycle is obeyed, it should live for a long, long time, considering it's a low current. However, I will warrant any problems that come above from my workmanship, i.e. if the button fails or the driver shorts. Basically, if the diode isn't LEDd, I will investigate the problem and report if it was user failure causing the diode to die or if it was driver/contact failure. But I stated the duty cycle on the laser and it is the user's responsibility to follow it.

However, I would gladly have a few selectable currents/powers for users!

Makes sense, although good luck telling if a diode is killed by heat. Some things you could do tell I suppose though.

I love winning arguments

You thought we were having an argument?

You must be very insecure, I hope winning this "argument" helps your self worth

Hey, it was just a joke :san:

I didn't think it was an argument, I was just messing around..

Yeah, basically, if it's LED'd, then it was killed due to heat, certainly. These have no record of LED'ing not due to heat.

But, if the diode is dead AND the driver is dead, it's probably due to something shorting. The drivers I am using can handle open-circuit conditions and short circuit conditions. So if the driver is dead, then that is probably what killed the diode, and that is probably my fault.

Re: FS: 445nm, 900mW-1W Chrome Pens - $100 Each

i might talk to you later about making me a nice little 50mw green in the same host ;)

mmmm
GREEN:drool:

MMMMMmmmmmm

Just Saying.
