10 bit is plenty for my needs. W/ 2x gain I can get 2.5v max in 2.44mV steps.

I'm not a programmer, but, if an external ADC is not wanted, i'm wondering if you can make some sort of "autoranging" using only software, with Arduino board ..... I mean, as far as i remember, you can change the range of the ADC converter changing its own reference voltage, and the ATMega used in the Arduino board can be used with an internal 1.1V reference, or with an external AREF pin ..... it's not difficult to imagine a very simple circuit activated from one of the outputs, that switch the AREF pin from no connection to an external reference voltage source (a TL431A, just as example), and adding some instructions must be easy enough to switch this port on when the input go over the 1V range (1024), and switch it back when the input go under a certain voltage (keeping a good hysteresis window between the 2 values for avoid continuous unwanted switching) .....

Just another crazy idea :p

With the heatsink installed it can measure up to 10W. The minimum detectable power is 100uW. I'd go for three ranges, from 100mW to 10W full scale. If you only need 2.5W with 2.5mW resolution I love to trade sensors :D

Yes, it can be done and I actually tried. The only problem is the display and button shield. The buttons are set up as a single analog input, each button having it's own voltage level when pressed to save on having to use a bunch of digital inputs. Its voltage levels are based on 5V Vref, so if I change VRef I render them useless. Its not worth my time messing with their library to make the proper adjustments to make them work in both conditions.

I'm kinda fond of this beast, and in the future I might use it's extended capabilities. Just curious, what sensor head do you have?

I'm still making experiments with coatings and TECs ..... I've found a decent 98-junctions 20x20mm ones, that are able to read til 0.5mW to 5W, but still need to discover a decent coating that can hold 5W (being precise, that can hold 5W in a tight beam ..... if the beam is enlarged 15mm dia, it will hold the power, but if it go 2 or 3 mm, it will get damaged).

And also, probably (but i need to check this well, before) we can get some 254-junctions very efficent TECs relatively easy too ..... still i'm not totally sure about this, need to check dismantling one :)cryyy:) ..... I'm in the (slow) process to melt the sealing compound around the junctions (using solvents, trying to not ruin them), once i finished i will post the results.

As you should be, it's a nice sensor. 100uw resolution comes in handy when measuring low power pointers. If I were you I wouldn't trade ;)
I have an ophir 10A-V2-SH. It's a smart head which is nice, but I don't have the proper ophir readout, so just like you I have to make something myself.
I also have a few other ophir OEM thermopiles with their coatings in different states.
I also have a Laser Precision RkP-575, but I definately won't trade that one. I also don't have a readout for this one. It has a 100nW (that's nanowatts) noise equivalent power, 10W maximum, millisecond rise time, precision 1cm^2 aperture and 1% flatness over a very large spectrum. I haven't seen any thermal sensor beat that.

I was able to read the calibration EEPROM housed in the DB-15 connector thanks to an Arduino Nano ... now what it all means is TBD since I do not have a data structure to apply it to.

i am new on the forum , but old laserist :)

i am one ps-310V2 head and tpm300Ce , but im not db15 connector and eprom !

it is possible for you , to send me schematics / pinout of the pcb and type of eprom ? , i send mail to gentec but no response :(
