Why am I not seeing a thread that outlines this dual drive setup for 445nm lasers? I've searched the forum for a tutorial or some explanation of how or when this can be done and have found NOTHING. Or if it's out there, the THREAD TITLE, does not reflect the actual content of the thread.

Anyone capable of pointing me to the instructions on how to do this?

Here is a build that DTR did where he uses Two drivers, I know that he has done this a couple of times and would be the best person to speak to.

All these laser pros make lasers seem so easy... yet they are extremely complicated

They are easy if you follow a few "rules"
1. ESD is the enemy, ground yourself to something (like a computer case or plumbing) or use anti static spray.
2. Have everything before you start, don't try wiring everything together before your heatsink or module shows up because you will either get the diode too hot without adequate heatsinking or you will have to solder temp leads on, try it, desolder the leads and then solder everything together again. Less heat on the diodes is better.
3. Careful pressing the diode in, flaminpyro has a tool for pressing them it that won't shear the leads off like it will if you slip with a piece of tubing or something.
4. Double check your circuit/connections before powering up the driver, then check/set the driver with a test load (test loads are your diodes' best friend).
5. "Making do" with a slapped together circuit and wires hanging out or a power source that isn't regulated very well will just piss you off when it kills your diode. Taking the time and doing it right the first time is SO much better than trying to get it together with whatever is around.

Has anyone heard from drlava recently? I sent him and email as well as a PM on PL about if he has any microboosts in stock, but no reply. I wish he would update his site saying they were out of stock, that way we would know when/if they get back in stock. It would probably save him the trouble of answering questions about orders too

I wish someone more reliable would make and sell some boost drivers. I love Dr. Lava's drivers but hes got some of the crappiest customer service i've seen. This isn't anything new though. Normally everything runs smoothly, but god help you if you actually need to get in touch with him.

I understand some people are busy, but if your not too busy to take their money then you shouldn't be too busy to speak with them.

Yep, usually everything is fine, 1. place order 2. wait 2 weeks 3. receive drivers

but now that they are out of stock and i need to ask about one of his other driver it gets... not so smooth. An easy fix to this would just be to update the website saying whether or not they are actually in stock, but as you said, some people are busy.

me too, unfortunately the only other seller I could find was on ebay for $40 a pop plus shipping.

Definitely. I was going to get back into doing some projects and.......no microboost drivers. Anywhere. An alternative driver needs to be available, might even help. Competition and all.

I thought there was a decent boost driver that was on a round board.
It had something like 16 modes but you could make it a on/off only with just a solder bridge.
What is wrong with that one? Not smooth enough output?
I know they were less than $5.

I wish I saw this before I sent money to Dr.Lava, its been almost 3 weeks and still no driver or response from the Dr . Honestly, if i knew this would happen i would have just paid the 33.50 and be done with it.
