Edit (as in post #20): That's the end, everyone! Thanks to all those who took part, by voting, submitting entries, helping me out at the beginning with the decision making and, in the case of Jayrob, for donating the prizes.
Well done to everyone that entered. Your hosts were all amazing! And congratulations to the four finalists for having got this far!

But the winner of the Host of the year award for 2010 is DTR with the Frankenstien!! :D:D:D
Second place is AnselmoFanZero and a close third is Flaminpyro!

HOTY2010.gif

This is it, folks, the final poll that will decide who wins all these wonderful goodies:
Jayrob's PriceAngels review unit
A basic Jayrob Pocket Mini Build Kit
A banner with your host on it
A printable rosette to stick on the host or put in your trophy cabinet to show to the grandchildren
And most importantly - The joy of having built the Host of the year for 2010!

Here is the original thread: http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/host-year-2010-a-59521.html
Here are the "semi-finals" threads: http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/hoty2010-semi-finals-poll-part-1-a-59853.html and http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/hoty2010-semi-finals-poll-part-2-a-59852.html

The entrants were divided up into two categories, Torch-style and non torch-style and the winner and runner-up were entered into this.

The winners of the torch-style vote were:
DTR's 2W Frankenstien Ultrafire RL-2088
and
Flaminpyro's SH-032 with Triple Tritium focussing ring

And the winners of the non torch-style vote were:
AnselmoFanZero's Iron Man Glove
and
Ehgemus' 2X26500 Custom Host W/3XGroove 2 Drivers

The winners are being PMed as soon as this thread is put out to write a 250 word paragraph on why their host should be Host of the Year, as well as they are allowed to enter up to 4 pictures or videos and links to any threads they want to enter.

This vote ends on the last day of January, so get your votes in quick! :D

And here they are... the competitors for Host of the year for 2010!!

The AnselmoFanZero Iron Man Glove:
Wanted to create something cooler than a pointer...light...compact...but effective. Took a weekende for planning and design and another weekend to make it.
Still cant believe so many people like this thing...and even harder to believe how many people want one ;-)

I agree -- I want all 4. Let's set up the "Top 4 Lasers of 2010 Commerative Set" (what would it go for -- $500, $1,000?) !

BTW, I mean a production run, not the actual originals!

Yes! Let's do this! And then you can have one free because you thought of the idea, and then i can have one free because i set up this competition :D

I'd build a big acrylic showcase for them and put them on cushions and only ever handle them when wearing gloves and then if anyone else tried to touch them...
:lasergun:

(JaiNobeZ goes off to fantacise about having all those lasers)

I was torn between the frankenstein and the iron man glove.

But in the end, the iron man glove wins in my book for pure innovative awesomeness.

All of these entries were absolutely amazing.

I've always been impressed with Ehg's and FP's work. I like DTR's as well. I'd like to see what DTR could come up with if he had access to the tools and machines that Ehg and FP have.

But I have to vote for AnselmoFanZero's Iron Man Glove. The originality and innovation on that build just takes the cake!!

Does it end at 00:00 2/1/2011 GMT, or PST?

I'm a brit, so GMT. But i got the timings very slightly off, so it ends at 00:48, and i'll be organising the aftermath tomorrow when i get home.
