Just wanted to vent a little bit, because I know how some of you will be able to understand how I'm feeling about this:

Canada Post won't let me get my laser until Tuesday. It's Friday... It's here and in the post office, but they won't let me get it. Here's why:

I've been waiting for a while for some lasers to be delivered to me - 2 Greenies (50mw), 300mw cute Red, and a 1.4W blue (445nm)

So I'm waiting for ALL of these - in the meantime I have *NO* lasers at all. Not even a cheap 5mw red laser. Nothing. (Long story behind a focalprice laser that stopped working, it was junk but I love the host)

Anyway - so here's where my story sucks.

I woke up around 9am, pretty early for me on a vacation day but the dog needed out so I let her out, and did my tidy up, yadda yadda. The post lady who delivers packages usually shows up around 12-13:00. Well, I'm figuring I've been waiting all week long, and I'm home all day... I'll just wait.
14:00. Nothing.

15:00. Nothing.

It's getting on 16:15 so I head down to the mailbox and check my mail and boom! There's a door knocker. (For those of you who don't know, the post office will leave a paper that hangs off of your door to let you know they attempted delivery but you weren't home)

Well... I don't remember them coming at all... no doorbell, no knocking and at no point was I in the shower, working out, listening to music with headphones, or anything that could have made me miss someone ringing my doorbell. At all.

She didn't even BOTHER to check to see if I was home. She just left the knocker in my mailbox? WTF!

Okay, fine. The post office is open until 17:00, it's only 16:20 at this point and it's like 2 minutes from my house, LITERALLY.

I run back, hop in the car and head down to the post office.

I drive by as I'm pulling into the parking lot and think to myself "Looks dark in there. I wonder... did they close early?"

So I walk up to the front door, give a tug and no go. Locked.
I start scanning the door, just checking to see if there's something posted there:

Yup. They closed at 16:00 today.

This is where I was ticked off: Not only did the delivery lady NOT even attempt to deliver my package, but she dropped off the delivery slip AFTER the post office had closed. There was *NO* possible way I was getting this laser today even if I wanted to.

Anyway - I've been waiting for what seems like an eternity, (At least 3 weeks for ANY laser to show up) and when I finally get an opportunity... It's a false opportunity. Can't get the package if I wanted to.

So as it sits now, I have to wait until Tuesday morning at 8:00, because they're closed Monday because of New-years happening, (Which is fine, I'm off Monday too) but then they open at 8:00 (When I'm scheduled to work) and close at 17:00 (when I get off of work)

I basically HAVE to take time off of work to get my package that they actively didn't bother to deliver.

Gah. Stupidness.

My only hope is that all parts and pieces made it okay without being subject to intertia and gravity. Here's to hoping anyway.

Then, I cannot pick up the stuff the same day, gotta wait till next day.
Plus, my stupid post office is CLOSED ON SATURDAYS!

So yeah I feel with you...

Happy new year!

Hahaha Thanks anselm - Same here with the being closed on Saturdays. They're NORMALLY open from 8 - 11:30, on Saturdays except tomorrow because it's Jan 1'st, so they technically get two days off. The 1st, as well as the 3rd.

Jeez.

I can't get anything delivered, out in the country, PO box....
Usually takes until just before closing for them to get the package back to the post office and run through the system before I can claim my prize but if I do show up in that small window of opportunity I can usually get my stuff the same day.
Not nearly as bad as your situation but a hell of a lot better than ups or fedex.
Those guys piss me off to no end.

LOL!

You just bummed me out. I also have lasers arriving (actually, a mail hold that expires Monday - so I should have a backlog of fun stuff when I return from XMas break). Except now I'm realizing that Monday = Tuesday.

Well, maybe I'll see you at the post office. HFX here too! I'll glance up at the sky on Tuesday evening. Maybe our new beams will cross paths. lol

Depending on where you are on the peninsula, I'm actually curious as to whether we would be able to see each other's beams if well timed.

That Sucks! Thankfully I have a great mail lady, she just leaves everything between the door and the screen door. The rest of the USPS sucks, hence snail mail.

Yeah, I think that blows. And another thing that blows is Wicked Laser's eta schedule for Spyder III Arctic,
PURE FICTION!!! I'm wondering if I've been screwed??

I'll give you my phone number sometime, we can find each other's relative position *and when you get your 445's built* we'll see on a clear and foggy night if we can see anything.

I'm definitely up for testing :)

Gee -- all this post-bashing makes me wonder if my experiences are uncommon. My local postal carrier is great, knows me and my dogs by name, and is very reliable. My parents' mailman is a nice guy who lets Dad know where the fish are biting, and one I deal with in another state will be bring packages that arrived after his run up to the pub for the regulars.

My postman does this all the time - leaves a card in the letterbox instead of ringing my doorbell. if FEDEX and DHL can get to my door and ring the bell (deliveries and pickups), why can't Australia Post?

Should put a sticker on my mail box "please at least ATTEMPT to deliver the package!" :)
