Hi, I sold my spartan 1 watt laser to someone in the US from canada. It has been at customs for 2 weeks now. I am afraid it may or has been seized. Before i sent it i offered to send the tailcap separately just incase customs decided to take a look at it, and the person said no he wanted it shipped together.

So may question is, if the laser really did get taken would i have to give the person his money back? I dont think it is fair to because i offered to send tailcap separate but he said he didnt want it to be separate. But i could be wrong.

Any thoughts,?

imo if he said no to the option to ship separately and wanted to take that risk it is his own fault.
He had the option to be on the safe side but did not want to pay the extra bit to ship 2 packages and maybe wait one extra day as you generally ship them one day apart, To me this is his own fault and could have been avoided.

Thats good news. I hope it is just taking longer than expected in customs, but in the event that is actually was seized that is good to hear. the reason i sold my laser was so i could get money to try making my own. That wouldnt be able to happen if i had to give the guy his money back.

What part of the U.S. did you send it to?
I know SanFrancisco is one of the worst for confiscations.

I know my LPM from lasersbee sat in customs for like 2 weeks before i got it. Then they sent it to the wrong side of the country on accident, then finally sent it to me....

If I were you, i would just blame Tech_Junkie for the seized laser. He is on a self-imposed ban, so he won't be able to deny the accusation :D

Hopefully that is what is happening with the laser.

@thebucketmouse The laser was sent to Charlotte.

I was basicly just wondering if it was definately my responsiblity to send the money back in this case, and figured you guys have sent a lot of stuff cross border so you would know :D

Thanks.

you did your best to avoid this-- not your fault- it may still show up-- if not a letter will be sent - prolly to the recipient ==but that may take while-- the one I got ( San Fran too) did not come for a month after they snatched them. order of 33 greenies from China- all were overspec including the 16 they kept(forever) AND the 17 they finally sent on-- I spilt the loss with the seller. my fault too many in one box and I could have asked to send in two boxes- front half in one ---back in the other.. Gl to you--hak

Its actually good newz for all.. Nice to see any laser NOT getting delayed or worse. I was considering cancelling a GB because of this very situation. I am glad however it is not a WL GB!!!

Some Co.s get 'flagged' and some are treated as 'trusted importers'.

Peace--..<(*+*)>.. hak

It went out to North Carolina, hopefully they arent too bad for confiscations

NC in my experience are terribly slow and in some cases dont update the tracking
even after delivery..

I dread sending things there now. The customers usually dont
want to pay for express and complain when its slow :banghead:

Never lost an item to customs though, so there is a plus at the
end of the day :D
