It was filmed with my cell phone in 720p with the Wicked Lasers goggles over the lens.

What is the duty cycle on your yobresal. I love the compact size compared to the Artic.
 
He says 30 seconds in the first post of his thread, then I'm pretty sure later on says 45 seconds. I can say alot of people including myself have had them on much longer... from a stone cold start I would say it gets decently warm after about a minute. I don't know enough about the hobby to know how long you could run it without doing damage.
 
If it starts to feel warm in your hand, its usually time to let it rest. But the blue diodes can take some abuse, so you may be able to push it another 15 - 30 seconds. Sometimes they pop. I guess its up to the individual how long you're willing to push it.

Thanks for the info. I would say then 1 minute is probably the safe max then.
Maybe I'll measure the outside temp of the host from cold to 1 minute and post a video...
 
Yeah it seems after a minute the temp climbs pretty quick. You should be safe. Hopefully. :p
 
well when i use my lasers i never really keep track of their on time, im usually too distracted/amazed with the laser >.> yes i know its a bad habit
 
Nice videos. These lasers can be left on for well over a minute but as a precaution I recommend shorter duty cycles. One customer reported leaving his on for 15 minutes without fail.
 
The Yobresal custom appears to have more burning power. Any of us builders can beat the WL Arctic for power but we don't have to produce thousands of lasers for a wide range of potential idiots. Steve therefore has reduced the power to a level providing long life. He specifies expected diode life. With me, I don't care.... If I toast one at >1.7 Amps, I'll replace it.

That's part of the difference. Also, I notice that my G1 has the same beam characteristics as the two I built myself. The video appears the same as mine.

I wasn't trying to make the Arctic look bad, I completely understand that it can't be set on the bleeding edge. I'm very happy with the Arctic, its an awesome setup.
Anyone not really familiar with lasers or what they can be capable of, I show them the Arctic. For those that are a little more tech savy and not as easily amused, I show them this custom build.

I've been interested in lasers and owned basic pointers since I was a kid. I never really thought of it as a hobby, but after seeing the Arctic, and then finding this forum, I can see where this could easily be another addiction for me. (I already have several hobbies)

Yeah it was Fahrenheit. Also, I had the probe on the heatsink, and not on the host, which of course gets alot warmer.
