I am a laser noob. I have read around on this forum for a few days but haven't found any reviews for a Lyra. I have seen reviews for the Evolution Pro of 130mW and 150mW. I have gotten a good vibe from them. I read the guide to buying a green laser and i saw the Lyra so i checked it out.
I will list my personal pros and cons for both.

Evo Pro

Pros:
Costs A total of 57$
Looks Awesome
May be Overspec????? I need to know if this is true???
Continuous Duty cycle

Cons:
Heard bad things about Wicked Lasers.
Class IIIb
May be Underspec??????????
Only 3 Month warranty

Lyra-5B

Pros:
Guaranteed 4.0-5.0 mW output
6 Month warranty
I trust laserglow more.
Class IIIa

Cons:
Doesn't look as cool.
Cost 2 dollars more:D
Not continuous duty cycle

OK... so now that you have my opinions...i NEED yours.
I am going to be using this laser for presentations,Light experiments and shining it at walls i want something durable that will last a long time.
I am leaning towards Evo Pro because of the continuous duty cycle.

Is there something I said that made everyone one ignore me? Or did I just post this in the wrong place?

I would get the Lyra.
Also, check out Laserglow's "Anser."
There will be no visible difference between 4mW and 5mW and 6mW. So over/under spec is pretty irrelevant unless there is no output.

Remember that the Evo is a lot bigger than a pen pointer.
It's excessive for a 5mW pointer, IMO.

There are other places to get good quality 5mW pens.
Check out Z-bolt.com. They are located in the USA.

One thing i'd like to point out is that there is a glass front cap on the Evo , which will pretty much guarantee the lenses to never get dirty.

Its a plus for me.

True, but at 5mw you wouldn't be burning anything anyway. This would probably reduce getting a dirty lens.

The glass window gets dirty, too. And because it's exposed, it's easy to scratch. It really serves almost no purpose.
I have an Evo. I like it, but for 5mW, I would go with a smaller pen.
And I see no reason a 5mW pen could not be run continuously.

I've had a Lyra before and it was awesome. Great beam specs and awesome stability. Pricey for a 5mW green laser pointer, but you get what you pay for. You won't have any problems with a LaserGlow product.

Well windows get dirty from just the elements and dust etc not jut from burning.

True the window gets dirty , but I'd rather have to clean the window than the lens.

What is the difference?

What I am saying is that the window will get dirty more easily than the lens in a pen laser with no window.

I have good results with using silicone tail caps over the aperture of my pen lasers to keep dust out 100%.
I don't think that the Evo's window is a deciding factor, personally.

I just don't see the advantage of a large 5mW laser over a compact 5mW laser.

I don't really care about the lens cap. I like the size of the evo and it looks cooler. I just Want to know if the lyra is so much a better laser than the evo?
That I should get it. Sorry about the typing, I'm using. An iPod touch

The Lyra host is definitely going to be higher quality.

If I were you, I'd be getting a Lyra.

"Better" as far as performance goes? There won't be a difference.

I do not know about wicked other than they aren't shipping too much of anything at the moment... i do have a few CNI (laserglow) products and their quality is top notch, some of the best beam specs you'll get from pointers. :)

-Also, i feel your pain, i was on an iPhone 3gS up until like last week...

This might be a dumb question, but why do you want a expensive laser?

for what you are doing, why not get something cheap, like this? Is it looking cool worth 50 dollars when you could get one that works just as well as a 10 dollar one?

Just my opinion.
