Why are most people here "anti" Sci-fi?

I was going to answer "Star Wars" because Darth Vader could use the force, but I forgot about the Q from Star Trek.

So what/who has more/stronger powers?

The Q or The Force?

Hmmmmm......

Using logic in a sci-fi characters comparison is a bit weird, but if you ask ..... :p ..... i say Q, for a simple line of think ..... the Force from Star Wars is an universal power, but is used through the abilities (and limits) of the characters, where instead Q is a supernatural being with the same powers of a God (to make anything he want and think, just wanting it), so, basically, on a totally different level .....

..... not speaking about the detail that there are more than one Q, around, in the Star Trek tales :p

I think that without disturbing Q, the 8472 Species is more than appropriate to win :D :D

I came out of the star trek closet long ago. I don't fantisize about the doctor chick or anything like that, but I love the concept of phasers and those colored beams of light inspired my last few laser purchases. :)

I highly doubt, any one member here at LPF does not have some appreciation for sci-fi.
In fact, I have a feeling that most LPF members have a big sc-fi soft spot in their hearts.
I have been here only a few months I have seen lasers made from light sabers, sc-fi replica guns. Even odd items, like a lighter, or a DMM, even a sound meter.

I liked your drill idea as you can see in my post in that thread.
However the video was hard to hunt down. I had to go to youtube and put in your forum name to get to it
But most of all, I could not see the laser. Your video was so dark as far as I could tell you just taped it on. I don't know!
It would have been nice if you showed the laser up close and in good light. Maybe even a shot of the inside.
I'm sure you spent a lot of time designing it and finally assembling it. I's obvious you were proud of it. Why not share that then with some better photos.

Funny that the OP hasn't responded to the replies in
his own thread....

My apologies for for being generalizing of this forum. You cannot take the whole forum for a few's comments. I think if you like to build strickly "pointer style" lasers then that is for you and if you like it great, and to try other laser "host" then that's for other's perhaps...to each his own. Some will be Sci-fi fans and others not. Sorry. I had just never scene anyone yet post a video of a laser host made from a cordless drill or cordless screwdriver that's all. For it's size and volatage compatability I think it was a good idea though and just was excited to share it with all.
