Coleman Max CR2 host problems...

I just picked up a Coleman Max CR2 for a host on my first build. Out of some of the more complicated things that come up when building a laser, this is really holding me up...

How in the hell do you get the top off of the flashlight?!

It seems like it should twist off so you can get at the LED assembly, but after some serious elbow grease I can't get it to budge. I don't want to put it in a vice and risk breaking it.

Can somebody help me out on this? Out of all the things I thought would go wrong on my first build, this was not on the list!

EDIT: Sorry I probably posted this in the wrong sections, mods feel free to move.

I kind of have the same problem with a craftsman host I have, I can get the head off, but I can't get the damn recessed reflector thing out, and the lens is like fused with the metal head. I can't do anything with it, unless i use a drill or dremel, but I would rather do that as a last resort.

to get the reflector out just sit the head of the laser upwards, and bash the plastic lens with the handle of some pliers....there is a little "lip" that keeps the reflector in, you just got to force it past this lip.

LOL, I love your method. More specifically the "bashing" part.

you gotta show it who's boss....i guess you could use a vice and press something against it to press it out.....but really it just takes a good tap and it pops right out.

And if the lens is fused, I usually just shatter it and pick off the pieces that are stuck to the head.

I put the coleman in a vice and used pliers to twist off the lens cap, then pushed the lens and reflector out with a brass punch. Pretty easy, it just takes a lot more force than I expected.

thanks for everyones help!
