How many mw to ignight "match light" charcoal

How many mw of laser power would it take to ignight "Match Light" instant charcoal? What wave length would work best an 808 at 2 watts, 600mw of green 532nm or what? I have tried the "dilda" 200mw at it smokes it good but no FIRE ahhhhh!

10 watts of CO2 laser should do the trick !! It lights pine board instantly. 400 mW of 405 nM - well focused might do it if there is some KNO3 to help.

I think you are missing the point.
He's not trying to use a match at all. He wants to use a laser to light charcoal (a brand called "match light").
I would go with a 2W ir:

But, even with that power, I am not sure you are going to get the charcoal to ignite. Lasers don't really make flame. They really just heat stuff up or melt or cut.
But, john_lawson has the right idea.
If you want to use your Dilda to light your BBQ,... Just throw a few (unlit and darkened) matches around the coals, and light those with the Dilda.

Perhaps to you. I enjoy lighting matches and burning other shit with lasers. It never gets old for me.

Like what Mike said, soak the charcoal in KNO3 solution, let it dry, and you may be able to pull off lighting it with a 200mW red.

EDIT: I forgot that you need sulfur to do that, nevermind.

You need a lot more than just mixing sulfur, charcoal, and KNO3 for black powder...just mixing the three will give you a slow burning "smoke bomb". You have to ball mill it... granulate it...so just soaking charcoal chunks in KNO3 will be far from gun powder.

Charcoal is the black stuff that remains from partially burnt wood. The stuff that we are talking about here are charcoal briquettes, which are little blocks of charcoal and other stuff that we burn for cooking some foods. All of you repling about colored matches, gun powder,ect.. miss what I was originally asking...which is simply estimating how many mw of laser light finely focused it would take to "ignite" own it's own "match light" brand charcoal, this has presoaked pieces hence the name "match light" because it only take a single small flame to ignite the whole pile of charcoal...I used a 200mw dilda and with it finely focused smoked the charcoal really good but no ignition...I'm pretty sure 2 watts of 808nm focused at it would definently do the job ,but I do not own a laser that powerful. I have seen on you tube 1-2 watts 808nm lighting a candle with ease and was just wondering if it could do the same in this case. I already know about matches igniting the charcoal, that is easy.
