He is accused of selling overspec diodes with bad info, for example he was accused by the man who made this thread, potatorage (thread maker) said that he runs diode of about 2A and got 600mW of output (should be 2W),
but as you have already said, Chris doesn't lie with spec of his diodes, he told you that diode outputs 8W with 25A, maybe it is dying diode, but it should stay some time working on that output and current (I can be wrong) and he didn't lie about current/output condition.

I'm not defending him or accusing other people of lying, but as I'm reading more posts here, I've decided to post it with my own point of view.

Chris runs "hot and cold." If you get him when he is hot, everything is wonderful. If you get him when he is cold . . . . .

I have had several transactions with him

1) Everything went fast and as expected

2) I received an item different than I bought. I had use for the switched item so didn't freak out.

3) I had to publicly "kick him in the ass" but he eventually delivered

Peace,
dave

Numbers 2 and 3 are NOT an acceptable way to do business, and they are the reason why Chris should just close up shop.

I you accuse me of making drugs one more time i will take action on you
Up until now I haven't said anything about this, but dude you can't take legal action if its true. It's neither slander nor libel. IF YOU DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO JUDGE YOU BECAUSE YOU COMMITTED A FELONY, YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORE YOU COMMITTED THE CRIME. Any other "action" you might be wanting to take would just be further criminal behavior.

I know he never lied, he failed to mention that the diode was dying though. If I didn't know any better I wouldn't have know that, and I'd have spent $75 on a diode that was nearly dead. I'm glad that he did tell me what power it was doing and at what current it was doing so, so at least he was honest about that  . It may have lasted for a while, but there were certainly a few dead emitters in there.

As Dave says if you get him when he's "hot" everything is fine, but if you get him when he's "cold" you can have a lot of problems. And as I also said, I've heard mixed things about Chris. It's luck of the draw really  .

Regards,

Adam

wow guys, chris actually issued a full refund for my hene laser that didn't match the description, and let me keep it for free.

my experience with him led me to believe that he does make mistakes, but he is quite a stand-up guy in dealing with issues.

I think that only happened due to the recent statements made about him. Chris is KNOWN soley by many for his scams, and shady tactics.

But thank the lord you got your money AND got to keep the product. you deserve it bro, for the trouble. It's a shame he doesnt do this with everyone

There was not even a SINGLE attempt to solve my issue when it was happening. not one reply verifying shipment or ANYTHING... all i got was a response TELLING me i should open a dispute against him... now why on earth would anyone say that to a paying customer if they did NOT have intentions off taking my money.

Food for thought

TJ your attacks on DAoO do not really make any sense.

As for Chris, I have not personally dealt with him.. I have previously defended him in a heated argument when it seemed like he was definately not in the wrong, but as a clueless bystander it now looks to me like he is a scammer, and a damn rude one at that.
