I agree and was lucky enough to add it to my collection along with the blue/copper convoy, these convoy hosts are very nice, good tolerances and fit/finish and Rich finishes them out nicely.

just out of curiosity when you have these pre wired hosts for sale what process is left? is it basically plug and play? like all I have to do is solder driver and slide in module and im done? because pretty soon ill need one of your hosts :) and at the moment I have so much going on and need some time to save a little. thanks Rich

If you mean the wires from a driver that come's from a complete module to the wires from his host's, than yup that's how Rich usually sets them up. At least his standard plug and play's.
I'm sure he leaves enough wire length to solder to the input pads of the driver if needed though.

When he says wired in the case of tail switched he attaches wires to the spring board and you solder in your diode driver and there is a set screw in the heat sink so you can apply a little thermal paste and use the set screw to hold your module in place, there is no plug you simply solder and heat shrink two wires or trim and solder the spring board wires to your driver as he gives you plenty of wire length, it's easy and lots of fun, just remember to always be safe.

Here's a 501 I got from Rich that had a blacked out sink, I decided to sand the lands and leave the grooves black as well as the front of the sink and center front of the adjuster which I think looks really good although this pic is not doing it justice.

Here's a host I recently got from Rich, I put in a NDB7875 @ 2.4a and it's good for 60 second runs or so and I only use EFest 18350 IMR cells as they hold up well for me.
I wonder how it would look with a red powder coat with the lands sanded ?

If you have an idea for a build let Rich know and he can make it happen for you, I am thinking about a fairly compact 7A75 with a 4X c-lens pair enclosed in the nose so it's a tight beam fixed focus, should be a fun one.

Hi, I want to thank Red and GSS for there stepping forward and explaining clearly. Thanks for showing the hosts also Red. GSS Thank you fronting out the plug n play saying it really puts thing not perspective also..
@SGD,
I enjoy the coatings and they put a twist on the same O thing , they look cool in the correct coatings to compliment the rest of the host.

I put a m-140 in this blue convoy but changed it out for a NUGM03 @ 1.8a and it's doing 825mw with a 2 element lens, duty cycle is about 45 seconds and I added one of those brass coupler you made for me a while back to lock the lens down at infinity and add some extra heat sink, it's a good looking unit and hard to put down, cells are 2 x 18350 EFest IMR,

Thanks GSS, I popped the GBall off and I am using a 2 element AR coated for greens, I have it locked down at infinity with that brass coupler.

On a side note I did get the pulled GBall can to press into a Chinese blank M9x0.5 lens barrel and it seems to be seating up to the ridge/shoulder in the GBall body, if I can trim the bottom it will be useful to focus with.

Cool, a focusing Gball lens. Really curious to how it compares to the other single lens or more important the G2..
Are you seeing any issue's as far seating proper and squarely?
Iv'e only had the 1 M02 Gball diode and the spot was oval, by eye and with glasses on. Was it a fluke or have you noticed any of your Gball's having that oval spot profile? Blue's and greens?

Wow that copper S2+ came out awesome buddy, I myself wouldn't be able to put it down. great Job with the coupling to thats a plus.
I went and looked at that other convoy host yes that would hold a nice chunk of heat sink either CU or AL and a Al with a CU core .
might just buy a few of those. And they are made nice like the S2+ hosts

Yes it has a nice solid feel and a heavy weight, pocket friendly size and shape, awesome bright green beam and that nifty stainless steel button just beckons my thumb, I almost got the black convoy as I have the flashlight, but I really like this blue upgrade model.

They are really nicely made hosts the ss button is a great upgrade . I was also going to buy the Convoy M1 think I'm going to do a few of those.

Ive actually got a small 2 cell 10440 2.4A NDB7875 pen Rich built me about a year ago and its still going strong to this day. you might remember that build he was selling about a year ago. I love it!
