Hi, This 2X18650 Powder coated host is still for sale with a 5A latching switch . It also has a driver shelf milled into the heat sink for cooling the driver above 1.8A , plus focus adapter. prewired with 22AWG silicon wire. With a knurled tailcap...fullsizeoutput_9b8.jpegfullsizeoutput_9a2.jpegfullsizeoutput_99f.jpegfullsizeoutput_9a0.jpegfullsizeoutput_99e.jpeg

For sale Price drop.. SOLD .......
Here is a Convoy full copper extended sink and adapter , prewired to drop in a DTR 12mm module.
1X18650 / 2X18350 batteries . The copper sink gives this host a nice heavy feeling and adds to the cooling of the diode.
Thanks for looking

Ahhh this hobby is so bad for my wallet... I have a few convoy s2+ custom flashlights that I've always thought how the host would make a nice laser... Ive just bought a host and the sanwu pocket series from another thread... Self restraint is hard

Hi, These S2 Covoys are a great host, this one I widened the front of the bezel by turning off the lip on it . That gave me a larger diameter for the copper sink. More copper the better I say. I have one more in blue that should go well with a copper sink to . I have cases of different lasers all used very little and then put away. I like machining just to make a host ...This sink extends all the way into the body of the host.

Alrighty, Rich! And the rest of you😁
I’ve built a few lasers...one a few months ago and two pens over the last week. All of the build hosts I’ll post here are from Rich. The white pen is Powder coated. I touched it up with some white enamel to conceal the minor faraday caged corners. The brass pen was black. But I sanded it off, chucked it onto a drill on a dowel rod and polished it. The big host is powder coated white, too, and with a bare aluminum battery tube for 2 ea 18650. Diodes used are NDG7475, PLT5-450B and HL63603TG
(AKA Oclaro 120mW 638nm).
Drivers are Lazeerer SXD @ 2A, and 2 ea
X-Wossee LDSE500 SEPIC drivers; @ 285mA, and the other @ 270mA.
These were fun builds. I really love the white. I kept the 450 pen focusable for extra fun😁. I included some beam shots. The far-field shot is ~60 yards.

Thanks for all the great stuff, Rich!!

Hi SGD,
Wow you finllyhad some time to build into these hosts great job buddy . The 7475 520 goes great with the White PC host too.
The pen are incredible and an awesome choice of diodes and drivers. The pics are great and thank you for sharing these builds with us here at LPF.

I like your take on the S2+ Hosts Rich - Not sure I'll replicate it in my builds, but I might do future ones with the lip on the front turned out instead of how I've built in it before (all inside the host, with a 20mm module butting up against the inside lip of the host where the glass window is on an unmodified flashlight version.

Trinh Hong Phuoc messaged me a few weeks ago with another potential future solution so I'll see where that goes in due course. I like lower powered lasers (<100mW) because I can observe the pretty colours more safely and comfortably, so heatsinking is less of an issue for my S2 builds :p.

Thanks for sharing!

Looking at your outdoor beam shot with the nice green grass and leaves on the trees is making me wish for spring already; 3°F here this morning. :(

Hi Red,
I agree these convoys are built very well and the brass pills are for a flexible modification . you can either sink the driver in the pill or use it as a contact board, spring and wired. And they contact the copper heat sink well to. I had to make a choice on the blue one . AL with trans blue powder coat or copper, well that didn't take to long to decide.

@ Immo,
Yes turning out the bezel gave me more of a diameter of copper and fills the space in front great. And the sinks sit well into the host too.

@ BTG,
3 degrees brrrrrrr.!! you guys up there get those clipper a lot. here will be around 8 degrees tonight and only 15 degrees tomorrow maybe that will change. But Tuesday back into the 30's and the rest of the week into the 40's . So far I cant complain about the weather here with no snow so far im good with that buddy keep warm ..

Hi Red,
Ok the sink is machined to sit inside the lip at the bezel end, then the pill is screwed in to secure the sink on the lip inside . Just like the top diagram in your post

Ok I understand, placed into the cap from inside and locked between the bezel lip and pill, gotcha.

Hi Red, The only other way would be tun the lip off completely then machine the sink diameter to a tight tolerance almost to use a little force to seat it , then add a set screw for added strength . Then adjust the pill snug behind the sink.

Could make basically a slip over heat sink, the FL cap would insert into the heat sink held by a set screw with module/driver inside and wired to the pill in the cap so the heat sink will now screw on and off of the battery tube as one piece, it would be wider than the body of course.

The only reason for this is a larger sink and aesthetics.

hi Red, Yes that would work also the only reason I didn't do it that way is that the shell of the host is thin and would have to use a 4-40 x1/6 set screw so it wouldn't protrude out so much. I have made other hosts like you just described but the walls were thicker.fullsizeoutput_433.jpegfullsizeoutput_6fc.jpegIMG_2964.JPG
