Paul, as much as I loved making them my work schedule doesn't allow much of a hobby time lately. I have had several ideas for new hosts and i might eventually build something. I'm glad the community is still thriving, I appreciate you asking :thanks:

I, for one, look forward to the day you have the time to bring some new designs back to us here. :yh:

Hi ,
Those Sinner hosts were awesome sad to see them go. I just did a repair on one of those hosts and always a pleasure . This repair had a 465 with a Black Buck and a G2 . Replaced the Black Buck with a SXD set to 4A

Rich:)

DTR's N465 and the SXD driver arrived so today I finished the project.

The biggest challenge was to press fit the diode housing into the heatsink. I had to use two different vices to get it
into the place but finally I succeeded.

There was not too much space in the pill for the driver and the cables as I was using AWG20 to be on the safe side.
Unfortunately, that relatively thick cables are not too soft and the driver's solder pads are very tiny so I had to be cautious
not to tear them from the PCB.

As there was not too much room left between the diode housing and the pill (about 10mm or such) I decided to add
a 4mm spacer inserted to the host's threads so I gained a bit more space for the cables.
I also added a 2mm spacer to the rear so the batteries fit better now.
Bonus is that both spacers are printed again from a luminescent material so it helps me to see the host
in the dark better.

I tried to measure the approx. output on my DIY LPM but it stopped at 3.2W so I do not have the reading complete.
However, with the driver set @4A and using G7 lens the power should be well above 4W and that is fine for me.

I am using the Sanwu X3 on the host and getting an ugly glare around the dot so this one thing I want to correct
either by using different lens and/or changing the focal distance of them.
Apart from that, I am happy with the result.

Thanks to all who contributed to this forum during the last years!

Nice to see this Sinner host come together, and a great way to improvise for the extra battery tube length, plus it glows in the dark!

I also enjoyed seeing you put this sinner host to good use. I have several of sinner's hosts in my collection and many more that I have built for other members and interested people. Thanks for this great review. + Rep.

THX for the rep boyz.

Today I checked the "effective" distance and I was able to illuminate some electric pylons
@1.5km distance by sunset.
I am not sure about the material they are built from but it should be kinda metal of dark color.
My PL520 laser @~100mW is not able to do the same :-(, even with much better divergence, or
my eyes are a bit aged...
Anyhow, the Sanwu X3 BE is doing it's job very well!

It is incredible how much light energy is put out from the host, I am still not got used to it.
I am starting to get very cautious where to point the laser when switching it on.

Just for curiosity I did some measurements and the laser is now 277mm long and 503g heavy so it is
rather out of the "pointer" league.

Awesome work Robert! I am glad to see this host put to good use. I had it for a good 3 years or so and I didn't know what to do with it, but I am happy you were able to make this build. Enjoy and be safe :)

And as a closing word to this thread, I did some penetration tests today
so I had a better picture of that I built.

I never thought that one day I could have a handheld that can
burn through white paper but this beast did it in a few seconds @6 feet, using 3-element lenses.
To be precise it burned through the white envelope and then through the carpet lying behind it :)
My wife won't appreciate that I am quite sure :-(
