Just in case my point isn't clear...
Wow Blarg, methinks you vividly made your point clear! :banghead: I feel your pain bro, but kinda worry what may happen if you become as disenchanted with your uranium collection. There are a lot of folks who love laser light despite never building one. Some may be very happy to take any survivors of your purge off your hands. Please Be Well & Take Care.

I feel your pain BK, but in all fairness, those pins aren't gold, just gold plated to make them easier to solder. Speaking of which, I could put new pins on yer diode if it didn't die in the fire.

What a waste of perfectly good lighter fluid! You also could've sold the driver for a bit of cash too. Maybe setting still-useful/salvageable components on fire out of anger isn't exactly the best course of action.

@RCB, LOL I need to rep you for that.

Just in case my point isn't clear.

Oh right, this forum is still broken so embedding youtube videos isnt going to happen.

Whatever then.

Hi,
Wow you really mean business buddy, I am just wondering is my host will pass the torture test and keep on ticking. At least you didn't use a sledge on it .
Hey don't give up so soon i and everyone here lost a pile of diodes and drivers and i mean LOTS !!!so hang in there Matt . It was a simple mistake and i done it countless number of times really and felt the same way.

Rich:)

Sorry to hear about your troubles Blarg, but like others have said, this is a good way to learn. You can't immediately be a pro laser builder without having broken a few diodes, which I'm sure many members here have done.

It looks like Alaskan is willing to buy another diode for you. So make sure to ask around how others have done, and if you still feel uncomfortable, send it to them to build it! :yh:

Best of luck!

Chris, you are too kind. I'm sure it makes you feel good to help people, I also like to help, but this case calls for tough love, there are people stuck in wheelchairs who cant wipe their own backsides who would give their left eye for a chance to work and live a normal life.

So he cant earn enough to live on his own, don't feel like the lone ranger, many are in that boat, others who can earn enough find a GF and discover even bigger problems......you really shouldn't set your GF on fire when she wont work right.......you are going to need to learn to laugh it off to survive Blairking.

:p too kind is OK, he had a moment, that's all. Something else going on triggered it, that's how it is for me if I have one.

Yea, he said he was struggling to earn enough to move into his own pad, this was maybe the straw that broke the camels back.

Life is a balance, be happy for what you do have and find a way to satisfy other needs without making yourself crazy.

Wow! I guess this has been a bad day for Blarg. I don't know what Jordan charges for them, but you can get a real 505nm diode for $35.00 on eBay. You'd have to use the Blitz Linear driver from SL as they are case positive. If you had a problem with putting this together, you don't want to mess with the Blitz driver. I guess you also pay a premium to get someone else to press your diodes and set your drivers and solder it all together.

Maybe a day or two away from this will make it all seem less of a catastrophe to you.

Ditto all the above and very kind of you Alaskan:)
If I remember correctly Blarg you have had some good success with a few of your other units. You have brought them camping and played with your dog. The hosts showed good signs of use on your reviews you did a little ways back and they are still kicking;)
Your going to make mistake's lasers or not. Its all in learning.

Yeah, this hobby can be extremely frustrating at times, no doubt, but the end result is always worth it even if it takes a few tries or you end up buying a prebuild module. My first build was a complete disaster; diode, driver and module ruined due to mistakes on my part:
