So, in early Fall of last year with a concern that Mrs. Clinton might be elected and that she push for legislation to ban firearms and body armour, I started to think about what to do should she be elected. Would they make body armour illegal.
I came up with an idea to at least not only camouflage but duel purpose the chest plate for my body armour. We are talking about 1/2 inch thick steel plate. I happened to come upon Helping Hands Instructable and its update Improved
I did not want to use the larger hose so I decided to use my own neo magnet.
What better way to hide my body armour chest plate then use it as the base for a third hand!
At around this time, Bogarté, my retired spook friend, saw a demonstration of a product developed by a joint DARPA Dupont effort called Balatex™..pronounced BAL i tex...accent on BAL. It is a ballistic compound based upon latex.
Bogarté was able to get a hold of some which I used to cover the base of a 3rd Hand which would come to be called Medusa for obvious reasons. In tests, .308 rounds literally bounced off the plate. (I have not had a chance to try .50 yet.) The rubber also prevents the base from slipping when used as a 3rd hand.
The top surface is covered with black paint and then a layer of poured two component epoxy.
I am sorry for the fuzzy picture of the plate.
I am sure people are familiar with the coolant hose.
I put a bolt through the neo magnet into the plug which screws into the first section of hose. I then used two component plumber's epoxy to make a single unit and covered it with black plastidip which prevents it from scratching the paint/epoxy surface of the base.
I used banana jacks 4 mm and epoxied it into the right angle.
The reverse tweezers were the most difficult. I am sorry I could not make a video. I used the smaller female 4 mm jack by cutting off some of the back of the tweezers and embedding it with two components plumber's epoxy and sanding it down.
I use both regular alligators with a 4 mm female and a smaller alligator which plugs into an adapter with a 4 mm female.
This way I can choose which type of holder I need.
The finished product. In practice, I found I could shorten the hose by 4 segments. I also have a larger steel plate should I need more room.
Unless you tell, Mrs. Clinton will never find my body armour chest plate!

) for a peace of plate steel. Just might cost you a few drill bits. But the idea is quite sound. I used a peace of steel and took two radio shack helping hands and put them together and changed out the clips with different sized ones. Works quite well but a think your idea would work even better. You got some really fancy clips there also. Well done! :gj:
