what the Hell? what sort of alien technology did you use this time? to put that much power in a portable package... and what sort of energy storage device did you use that have enough juice to supply 5 amps.... Share your technology with us Alien...(we share our laser technology with you...

Hi IC,
It's no secret Isaac you can run the O7E at 4.5A to 5A. i have my builds running at 5A's and they hit the top at 470+nm with good heat sinking. Mine are built into a mag light 2-D cell with massive sinking. In the SL stainless host at the amp's duty is very low as the sink isn't the large to dissipate all that heat and the stainless will not do a good job of transferring the heat either.
So Alien be careful with your duty cycles with this build if you want it to last. Nice job anyway looks sweet..

5A! :wtf: I predict a duty cycle of 10 seconds! Impressive though to have that power in a small host even if you can only turn it on for a few seconds at a time.

Yea that little host is going to get hot fast and at 5 amps wow, but it will look amazing for short bursts....btw what batteries are you using, 2 x 16340 AW ?

Good question, I would recommend using the battery extension tube to use two 18650.

Hi,
Very good question on the cells being used, i would go for the 18350 AW's to in that build. Better get your oven mitts on LOL !!!

Am using Aw's 2x16340 i tested the laser i keep it on for 2/3 minutes it was so hot and the batteries started to discharge am going to keep it on and see how long it will last until something happen.
? What i did is before the build i connected the diode direct on 2x16340 no driver nothing happen

Wow that is too much, should not be over 5V for this diode or it likely won't last long, it's good to know that maybe this diode won't fail quickly.

Alien, thanks for using your lasers as "crash test dummys" for the good of the LPF:beer:

The reason you got away with putting 8 volts on the diode is because your batteries sagged below 5 volts before they got past 5 amps, maybe they took 6 amps at 6 volts for a moment, I bet if you try it with a volt meter in parallel you will see the voltage sag.

If you put 2 x 26650 IMR efest in series on that diode then you may not even get a quick bright flash before it pops, but it will pop.

I can run those red phatlight diodes on a single cheap 18650 because they can only put out about 8 amps, a little better cheap battery hits 10 amps, if I used a good INR/IMR cell it would blow it up.

Wow, these guys are right. The only things I can come up with are the batteries are either crappy, not fully charged or the sag is pretty serious (or any mix of those).
On a side note mine is a freak and at under 5A hits 6W. Night and day difference between it and any of my 462nm.

PS, got the stuff today:D. Thanks Alien, you are one crazy guy with your testing lol
