He did say it had a 3 element glass lens, so the output was probably more like 700mW, but that's still way to much to look at up close like that. Maybe he is wearing his safety contact lenses.

It were probably the goggles. As long as you don't point throug a window or on a reflective surface, you don't need to use the goggles. Maybe a red laser is better for what you're doing with it. As grass/leafs are mainly green, you won't really see the dot well in daylight.

You should however be able to see the beam of such a high powered laser in daylight, so give it another try without goggles maybe.

Red laser will not work on the birds. I use 532nm and it works very well

I totally agree this thing is bright! Thats why I always wore the glasses.

Hi forget the laser goose thing go on line and get yourself a bird bomb. It's a pistol that is activated by a special short blank cartriges. Put the bomb in the barrel insert the blank pull hammer back point up in the air only . The cartriges ignites the back of the bomb and it a sends it up to about 200 ft and blows up. They work great without endangering the wildlife.

Lifetime17 is correct. You can make them fairly cheap. I dont know the situation you have as far as neighbors go but they are very loud. You can also use bird spikes and solutions of that nature that will deter the birds from specific areas. The laser wont work if theyre on the roofline because you need to put the dot about 10 feet away and slowly move closer. If you cant get the dot on the roof because youre standing on the ground then it wont work. Also DO NOT direct it toward the eye as they will go blind.

Today I tried it again with them all on the grass walking around. Some walked away from the light but seemed to ignore it fairly quickly. The only thing it really did was make them stop honking.

No, I did not blind any of them.

I can't use anything with loud noises my neighbors would kill me. My one neighbor tried a spray that was supposed to repel them off his lawn. That didn't work. Which is funny because he is a freak about his yard. My drone worked for a while but they started to just squat down when I flew it over their heads. Also the drone is a pain to get all set up in a moments notice just to scare them.

I guess I'm back to the only thing that really works, my two golden retrievers.

Try a scarecrow, there are also motion activated sprinklers made for this purpose.

I have been playing around with the focus and have noticed that the geese are more afraid of the dot when its brighter and smaller.

When I first tried this, the beam wasn't focused and the dot was rather large at distance. Now I'm working with a smaller brighter dot and they do run from it.

I might just keep this thing now ha!

It still scares me how dangerous this can be

Just wondering, do you have bionic eyes or something? How are you able to look at a 1W 520nm without safety goggles from barely 2 feet away?
