Panasonic 3400mah 18650 Cell Now Available!

If you have checked the charger AND the cells come out @ 4.1 VDC,

then the charger should be fine to charge the 18650 cells.

On a 1st charge, I would charge 3-4 hours and check the voltage.

It should be 4.2 VDC for full charge.

4.25 VDC is the MAX fior this cell.

Everybody working with lithium ion cells should have a digital voltmeter to check voltage.

(even a Harbor Freight low cost meter is OK)

These cells have passed the stringent UL1642 testing for safety.

Is this setup all right for charging and monitoring the status of the battery. The voltmeter is battery-less and will draw power from the charger and the battery. It will charge slowly, but better safe than sorry :D

That setup is fine.

Just make sure the holes on the metal can don't short out the wires going to the cell,

or it will be glowing RED HOT.

Ordering has been brisk,

with so many orders from the far east having been cancelled.

Larry I have ultrafire brc18650 3000mAH 3.7v li-ion batteries. I am real noobie at this but can you suggest better quality batteries and charger to replace these. I will soon have many more lasers and would rather use quality than junk. Everyone on here says you are the expert so I am happy to get your advice! Thanks in advance!

The best advice I can give you is to buy only "brand name" 18650 cells.

My favorites are Panasonic, Sanyo & LG .

Those cells are tested to UL1642 safety standards.

I would trust these cells much more than any "ultrafire cell w/protection circuit board).

I have used several hundred lithium cells in various rechargable applications,
and xxxxfire cells have failed at about 20x the rate of "brand name" cells.

Chargers are a little more difficult,
because you have to open them up to look at the actual PCB construction.

The one in my signature has been reliable,

and Nitecore I4 is another charger I would trust.
