Hello guys,

I contacted CNI and nagivated through their site and found they offered a AAA GLP 405nm 5mW unit, I was interested and loved the host so I immediately contacted them via "support chat" and asked for a quotation...

The Price:

Total: $135
Unit itself: $70
Shipping: $65

I thought wow...this is a lot cheaper then the Electra but then I started to wonder, what would happen if I receive a defective unit? I know CNI is "the big boy" for all lasers but I just worried...

In you're opinions...is this better then the Electra from LG?

I would go with LG. For one, LG is closer, and secondly, they have much better customer service. They will both be 5mW 405 diodes, both reliable. CNI will just take longer to ship, and like you said, there's the chance of it breaking on the way over. Of course, a laser from LG could break in the mail too, but from LG it doesn't have to go halfway across the world (they are based in Canada).

In you're opinions...

I have let you know before but you use "you're" wrong.

You're = You are (you're a (fill in the blank))

Your = Your (fill in the blank) is cool)

As for my opinion on your question. You spend too much money on these lasers, when you can DIY for a fraction of the price.

Ok? I was asking a simple question about which would be the better deal, I really don't see what is you're reason for replying with the only intent to same some rude remarks? I really would appreciate a nice and helpful post.

Thanks.

I vote LG.

But it's a matter of "who cares" if it's spelled wrong. We still understood what he was trying to tell us, right?

This is a community in which we all love lasers. No need for grammar police to make an apperence. I know I don't always use the proper grammar but hey I don't care, there are more important things in life than grammar and if you don't believe me then guess you haven't been living

Anyways, I vote LG although I still think thats a boat load of cash for a low powered laser but it looks like you want to collect legal laser so good for you

Word of advice gained from personal experience-If you aren't going to help, don't post at all. Correcting his grammar does nothing except make you look like an ass, it's completely uncalled for. And it is his money, he can do with it as he pleases...

Yes, he can do what he wants with his money. But don't you think it would be nice to let someone know when they could save a dime? If he gets all these 5mW lasers he wants, that's a lot of money that he could have saved. He can still have a rainbow like he wants. He would save money and gain knowledge on soldering and such. But like you said it is "his money", I was just letting him know he can save money.

The CNI pens are night and day when it comes to quality comparison next to many other 405nm pens. Had two of them, the host is just awesome.

You might talk to another guy so you both can save on shipping and wire transfer.

Again, it's one exclusive good looking laser!

Cni is in my opinion great for dpss an such but their handhelds go for a pretty penny. Unless your getting like a 589 or something, just go with LG. Still your decision. Remember Cni doesn't accept paypal (from what I'm aware) so it would be a pain. Also I'm buying a laser from them here soon and I would split the cost with you (like a mini GB)

Great, thanks guys!

I was also thinking of getting 473nm 5mW, but I saw on a youtube video it looks barely visible during the day.

And how visible would 5mW of 405nm even be? The same as 1mW of 650nm maybe?

Thanks

no thoughts on splitting costs with me? 473 is amazing (seen but not owned-yet) and being a legit pointer it probably wont. seeing as how ive never seen a true 5mw 405 i cant answer you there. But i would guess like VERY dim

I may be interested in splitting the cost for 589, but what is the plan? I still have not understood that yet

basically You tell me what you want and using trust i order the lasers. you then send me a paypal payment (saves you a trip to the bank.) you pay your stuff, i pay my stuff and we are basically saving on shipping.

A word of caution. I've had to send back a few CNI lasers. (Not that they fail a lot - I've just had a LOT of CNI lasers; so I roll the dice a lot.)

While CNI's repair rates are usually rather reasonable, shipping to china is UNREAL. I think it cost me $180 to send back a 532 PGL-C, and the only reason I did it was that it was a ~$700 500mW unit to begin with.

At this point in the game, really, go with LG.
