It only lasts about 4 big blasts but the whole host gets cold fast and stays cold for a while. I am considering further constricting the vent to increase the duration I have also come up with the idea of filling empty cartridges with gel, plugging them up and freezing them. not the original plan. But works great and would still make the whole host nice and frosty.
I have also added a switch inside the battery compartment wired to one of the drives. if you shut the third, middle drive off, it runs at 3600 and no extra cooling is needed at all. It is all about adaptable.:tinfoil:

Yes….A “build” is a living, breathing, evolving creature. As the build unfolds….the overall original design/pattern remains….BUT… As in a fractal unfolding…the design changes to suit the demands of the operation or available construction materials.
Sometimes…things do not fit or function as one initially envisioned !! The design should be flexible enough to accommodate these unforeseen …” bends in the road “ Sometimes…changes can be made…” on the fly “ sometimes…NOT !!
Along the lines of an unfolding build…The “ Lawgiver II ” must have the LiPo charged. To do this without removing the cell pack from the component compartment…there is now a Deans Connector on the back side of the component box….with the LiPo balance connector just below it….both to the right of the Red/Green Status lights. See drawing. There are some details that one designs as the build evolves.
This “ design as ya go” method is somewhat driven because components arrive at different times…and there are those rare moments when inspiration strikes….and a “ Light Bulb goes ON “…and a better or more simple way of construction/arrangement is born. Ya just never know…But therein lies the fun and adventure !!!
The “ Lawgiver ll “ will also have two (2) additional DPDT toggle switches mounted on the back face of the component box….just to the left of the Red/Green status lights. See drawing. One switch will I/O the system temp and Voltage meter…and the other switch will I/O the fan for the Heat pipe unit. I want the ability to switch these components I/O…independent of LD operations.
I have found that it is preferable to incorporate features….that MAY be unused….than to have modify later on. You know the drill…” If I had ONLY installed that XYZ Gizmo…1mm to the left when I was building…then…I could have put the additional ABC Thingie right next to the XYZ Gismo…What a D…S… I am “ !!
Anyway….the build marches on !!! Pass the Popcorn !!

As the “ Lawgiver ll “ build unfolds….I find the interior space provided by the component box has been found to be wanting…SOoooo…. The relocation of the temp meter was a good start to yield more interior space for Drivers, Switches, A terminal strip for connections and wiring….and a big honk’ in Lipo !!! But….the space MAY be still too limited. As I am still waiting on the drivers to be delivered….I do NOT know how much room they will take up ????
In a pre-emptive move…I have decided to relocate the Digital Volt Meter to provide additional room for the drivers. In the current design…the VDC meter will now be located atop the ½” Aluminum heat sink plate…directly in front of the double D Copper handle. In a way…this MAY be a preferred location…as the unit operator now has a direct line of sight to the VDC meter read-out…no more looking around to the unit side face to check the LiPo voltage.
As I said in a previous post…a “ Build “ must be a fluid process….changing as the needs and sizes of components are realized and as how things fit together are finalized. There are always other changes brought out when one change is made ...like…OK…how do we route the +/- feed wires to the VDC monitor to this new topside - forward location???
Typically….there are many options….some simple….but NOT looking good….others…deliver a much “ cleaner “ look….but involve some difficult machining steps !! MANY choices !! Some challenge and much fun !!!!!

Hey everybody! :wave:
I apologize, I have been busy with boring, normal, non-laser related things.
I have spent a very dramatic week staring at the final four leads protruding from the power supply box and the receiver tube like a gang of angry red and black snakes.
My hesitation paid off! My wise uncle, overlooking my project, Shouted "Faf!" pointed at my thermometer and said "That is bi-metal, and therefore it is crap! you must use thermal adhesive strips!" I have demurred to his greater wisdom, being an industrialist of some note. I have acquired and incorporated a thermal adhesive strip, directly above the heat sink. This allows me to forgo drilling a thermometer hole through the heat-sink, granting a better, more natural view of the readout, While avoiding a large ugly protruding dial of questionable accuracy.
Now the leads are soldered, the snakes have been twisted and joined in and endless kiss.
all that is left is test, and lens adjustment, and test and lens adjustment...

I have a confusing situation here. When I power up the laser, I am only getting a very dim dot. Close in brightness to my 320ma red but a bigger dot. Everything tests out ok on the meter. I have three 1.8a x-drive v6's in parallel to get 5.4a at the diode. any ideas?
