50mW 520nm Osram diode on Ebay $200






There's also a GP planned on photonlexicon - $150 if GP reaches 50 units and $125 if 200 units are reached...

So that went fast. Only couple month ago I bought a complete 520nm laser for $500.
The prices already drop to $150-200 per diode.
 
Anybody interested in a murder funds for a 520nm diode ? I might grab a couple of these diode.

As usual, I may well be the only one who wants to underrun it at 5-10 mW...

Looks like 55 -60mA wil do it

A 520nm diode murder fund? As in, a fund meant specifically to purchase a 520nm diode with the intent of pushing one of these gorgeous beauties to its limit for the sake of knowledge? I'd be willing to chip in on something like that! ^_^

That's it, I think you'll find that most diodes we use today have been put through murder testing by at least 1 member :D

I've noticed! A little bit of searching leads me to all kinds of information about various diodes! :) I just yesterday found myself amazedly staring at a graph, by none other than Blord himself, that would seem to show the PL450B being capable of sustaining output from 5mW all the way through ~300mW! I would be quite curious to see just what these PL-520's can do. :D

Yes, I was very surprise that the 80mW 450nm diode can do over 300mW. That is almost quadtriple the output. And it was still not dead. :)
 
Since nobody else is jumping the bandwagon, sure I'd be willing to help you find out what these things can handle.
 
I feel like everyone is missing the source that I posted...they are available already. I'm ordering one tonight. Since I'm on quarters for the next 72 hours there isn't much for me to spend money on anyway, so I'm grabbing it.

I'll post whether or not they're legit later when it's here. I don't have an LPM yet, but when I do, I'll do all that mess as well.

Oh man this is getting me excited! I cant wait for these diodes to fall in price just a wee bit more... I dont want to spend more than $100 bucks on a diode, just isnt that practical for me...

Now if I was loaded, I'd buy all of these available on eBay!

I saw your source from when you first posted the thread. I've been quiet in that thread, but I subscribed to it and I've been subsequently hawk-eyeing it. ;) I'm going to be watching the availability of those diodes, and anything discovered about them, quite closely, as they're giving me the inklings of a potentially interesting idea for after I get my planned 405nm and 638nm builds finished. :D
