What values would be needed to safely power a 15 watt c-mount 808nm. laser diode using a constant current (DDL) circuit? (I'm using a LM338T instead of the LM317.) Thank you for any help.

I thought the LM338T I'm using in a modified DLL circuit could handle 20 watts.
I just need the resistor values for a 15 watt C-mount diode laser.

LM338T is good for around 5A. The only way you could drive a 15W c-mount with stock regulators like these is if you used a passbank. Sometimes the datasheets also provide examples of how to connect multiple devices in parallel.

Nobody's asking yet? Okay, I'll do it this time too.

Why do you need 15W worth of NIR laser?

I didn't even know c-mounts were capable of 15W. That's about an adittional 15W to dissipate from from the chip. Do you have a cooling mechanism or some sort of giant heatsink?

Pictures of your setup, as well as the use of this laser would be particularly helpful for those of us who are willing to help you out. :)

^Generally speaking, the kinds of people that can build their own dangerous devices will use said devices responsibly.
It's the people that ask things like "how do I hook up a MOT?" that I have deep concern for.

Then is it too late to advise the OP to not look at the dim red rectangle emitted by this device? What if I add a safety glasses rant?
