I was screwing the front end of my F22 on after putting in a fresh battery, when the laser came on and burned my hand (not badly, but I dropped the tail section).

I had forgotten that I had left the switch in the "on" position after the battery went out.

Lesson here is to never have and part of your body in a position where it could get burned if the laser was on.

Good one. ;)

Treat a laser just like a loaded gun.

Cheers!

I personally love the tender touch of a 445 at 1W... once you get up to 2W+ it's a different story..

Yes I was jokeing.. Laser burns hurt like :eg: The 445's are the worst I own. I make sure I put large focus adapters on them all even my 700mw hurts..

As for the birds I have 2 scarlet macaws (male female the female is Much crazzier than I! Really) and 1 military macaw, a yellow nappe amazon and a goffin cockatoo.. There all a hanfull some day's.. When they all decide it is screaming time ya put in the earplugs..

We who could... still tried to help out.. Sorry it's still going wrong... Learn from your misteaks..

1. After you found out the set screwes were screwed up you should have stopped all shipments.

2. Then there was the heatsink issue with the sh-032. Nothing should have gone out at that point...

All orders are being HELD untill theses issues are solved.. You were in so much of a rush to get it all out that quality controle was compromised..

Wouldnt it have been nice to say you still had the cash for shipping in the bank acct because of the set screws..

and then everyone would have had to wait a little longer because something was screwed up.. But you wouldnt be getting hit twice because of shipping and PP etc.

Eh Lighten up.. You will recover..

Here have a frosty on me...

I just recently LEDd my SF-AW210. Turns out all the threads I've read about were old and about the pre 2011 diodes. Since these diodes changed and the newer ones can't handle the 180mA I thought would be fine feeding it :( But luckily SF-AW210 are cheap and I can get another and run it at 130mA :)

Here's one...
One of those internal lens springs rolls off my desk onto a dark carpet below, and its dang near impossible to find. However, being a bit of a flashoholic, I have many LED flashlights laying around all over the place. So I grab one to illuminate the floor so that I can find this spring. Well, when I turn it on instead of regular light illuminating the floor, I'm looking at an immense intense flood of blue light and a nice +2W beam coming out of my "flashlight!" That was some of the most amazing bright light, and I quickly turned it off in panic. Luckily there wasn't anything reflective on the floor and the carpet was dark, so my eyes are ok. But for god's sake don't leave your lasers laying around and don't get your lasers mixed up with your flashlights!
Since then I got a nice pelican case that I put all my lasers in so they are always in their special place. They look sweet in there, and I know I won't be grabbing for them unconsciously when I need a light!
I imagine this would be doubly important for those with kids!

Yep, did that one too, with a 9mm diode at +2W. Instantly burned a nice hole in my pants, but it was on for so short that it didn't burn into skin. :)

The other one I can think of is, with goggles on, I had a laser on my desk and was just testing to see if a diode was alive. It was, and the beam dot turned out to be right on my video projection screen. Ahem, I really don't want to burn holes in there!

Was trying to focus my laser and had it hooked up to a DC powersupply. I grabbed the "coarse" rather than "fine" adjustment knob because I was looking at the dot, not the power supply. I fried the driver for sure, trying to find out if the diode is still any good.

OK Dropped the new mits500 build last night.. 1450ma X-drive etc.. C2.... Thaught it was dead.. pulled it all appart and found the + diode pin had come loose.. re soldered and it all worked.. How can that happen? Does the X have a cap discharge or UVP or something? I figgured the re soldering would have discharged the cap.. anyway's it is fine but I thaught I allmost lost a 250$ laser... We have been having fog lately so I was taking it out to get a good show and it ended up on the floor dead.

Oh and mark all your lasers with warning stickers... That helps when the lawsuits happen! Itell everyone if their clicky isnt colorfull dont play with it.. I modded all my lasers to black clickies and make sure none of my flashlights have black clicks.

Key switches are a good thing.. Havent seen any GB's for tailcap key switches yet...

always remember to tighten the set screw Tight on the heatsink to hold the module securely. i didn't do this with my 12x phobos build. i put some teflon on the lens to firm up the focus. but when i screwed it back in the aixiz module turned without my realizing it, twisting the wires off. killed a very efficient diode:yabbmad:
i just rebuilt the laser today with a new diode and driver. i was very careful:D

Aww man that sucks :(

Yeah, ALWAYS go wild with tightening the set screw. Better for thermal transfer too!
