Possibly a chance to finally get a ML501P73 diode earlier.

You guys missed my point.

Your crazy if you think These people sell more lasers then we do diodes. <<That is what iam saying.

Ill swear to this that all 445nm sellers on this forum sell more 445nm diodes then Rayfoss sells lasers in 445nm WL. Probebly even all those companies combined.

Include ebay in the Picture and forget it. There is no way.

I can assume the same for 638nm.

Maybe iam just Crazy.:undecided::p

Fair enough but i can GUESS that >50% of there sales come from the Forum or Youtube.

Most people that buy laser know about this forum and there has been very Little talk about those lasers.

Not talking about price or anything like that what i mean is that with them selling the 300mW diodes and there lasers too they are loosing alot of money compared to if we had to buy there lasers to get the diodes.

I doubt that the forum accounts for nearly as much in sales as that. Youtube is a different story.

I do agree though, they would make make quite a bit if there was no choice but to harvest the diodes from their lasers.

It is funny. I actually asked rayfoss and they said most all of the majority of their orders come from European customers so I am also skeptical on how much we can impact their sales.

Hmm, I'll pose the question to lazerer, not like revealing that kind of vague information hurts the in any way.

I'm of the mindset that they either have a limited quantity, and are wanting to use them to boost the power of their handhelds for the "regular person market" (not us, they don't care about us), or they have lots, but have some sort of separate selling restriction. Or perhaps they are even worried about competition from other Chinese sellers. They may be among the first Chinese laser manufacturers (assemblers) to have these diodes, and perhaps they want a monopoly on being able to build 500mW red pointers, at least for a little while, while others wait for their stock. Yep, that's actually what I think it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Personally I can't wait until you guys start to harvest these like you do the 445's.

Yeah, Lazeerer makes a good point. It's not builds vs builds. It's builds vs diodes for DIY builds.

He was not able to even find a contact RHD.

So i just order a diode. Whatever comes in comes in.

Ill keep you guys posted.

Lol, how do you even order from that page?

Shamefully i dont know. I had him do it.LOL

I tried to fallow what i could but i think you have to sign up.

He doesn't speak good English so trying to get him to use google translate to explain it would be difficult.

Let me see if i can figure it out for you.

It's ok, I think I'm okay for the moment.

That said, I have some somewhat shaky, but better-than-nothing information to suggest that this listing might be legitimate.

Will this be the really flat, rectangular with "wings" type of diode, or is it possible that it will have a better profile. I am not a fan of he current high wattage 635 diode. I'd sure like to see a more gaussian type dot!

I guess we don't know until you get one?

EDIT: I found your first post about this diode and I guess it has the same profile, I guess we need to concentrate on optics if we don't like the shape of the dot.

Also, I am concerned that "This baby has been off the shelf" may mean it is "out of stock."

"If you look at the baby details, the system prompts "Sorry, your view of the baby does not exist, may have been off the shelf or transfer, this situation is the shelf commodities are sellers or sellers use the external shop to release baby set not Taobao show cause, if you need to purchase, we recommend that you contact the seller please sellers back on the shelves before the transaction."

It's the same beam profile, and optics in a portable, capable of correcting it, will be very difficult.

There are alternative diodes with nice gaussian single-mode outputs. The HL63133DG is one such diode, and Mitsubishi has a similar offering. Always $150+ unfortunately, and limited to around 200mW as far as we know.

200mW of 635nm With a nice Gaussian output would be nice, but $150 is kind of pricey! Thanks for the info.

That said, I have a sneaking suspicion that the Mitsubishi equivalent of the HL63133DG is going to be over-drivable. Nobody has tested this (to my knowledge) but if these 300mW and 500mW Mitsubishi diodes are any indication of their spec'ing practice, it wouldn't totally shock me to find that the Mitsubishi "180mW" single mode diode (ML520G55) could do somewhere around 300 or 350mW in practice.

Yeah, I'm assuming the published numbers are for bulletproof operation and in our application, with limited duty cycles, relatively shorter expected lifespans and even our willingness to accept diode death when we are pushing the limits - we are able to run at much higher than nominal.

It think the overdriving is going to only be a characterist with the "Display" class multimode diodes that will be coming out. I don't expect to see this characteristic in any single mode diodes. That is just my optionion.:tinfoil:

I have had two of the 170mW Optnext diodes and they both died very eaisly when testing them for max current not very far over the rated specs. It was a good waste of $350 with very little data collected.:cryyy:

Hmm, I stand corrected then. I would have expected some degree of headroom between bulletproof constant operation and our heat sinked, short duty cycle operation.

At what mA / mW did they die? If you don't mind sharing.
