Jerry , You walked on very thin line when you shipped those expensive products of yours with regular mail. I would call it "Magnet for scamming" . I hope you did not have many chargebacks because "package is not delivered", when actually it was but you couldn't prove it.

My expensive items on eBay are all shipped with Tracked
and Insured Shipping...:thinking:

I've never had a chargeback or a Claim awarded to a buyer.
If a customer is unhappy... I refund once the item is back in
the shop.

The 2 negative feedbacks that I received were for inexpensive
non LPM related items that were delivered and insured. One
Canadian Moron bought a $50.00 Electronic LED Flasher Relay
for ~$23.00 including shipping and called it a ripoff...
I have more problems with "entitled" Canadian buyers than
with sales from elsewhere...

My problem stems from the fact that I quote actual tracked
and Insured shipping and handling costs in my eBay listing
description and since the buyer can't get any neg reps he
hands them out with low DRS ratings because he feels I
should ship for FREE and he is immune to any justice..

What these MORONS don't understand is that with FREE
shipping the same shipping costs are included in the FREE
Shipping Item costs...

It does not pay to be honest...

I know include FREE shipping and can charge what I
want (or overcharge) and get an automatic 5 Star DSR
rating by eBay...

eBay MORONS.....

Never mind, I do not want to give "hints" publicly to possible scammers, but I know what I am talking about.

I am slowly moving off eBay- For all these years I gave them everything they requested to be , and stay on the top.

eBay is anyway not my top priority since Chinese received great "Welcome" from eBay , and flooded everything.

Amazon, and your own stand alone web site is the way to go (for now).

For every item sold on eBay (free shipping is a must of course :) ), I sell 15 on Amazon, and 10 at web store. Math is pretty clear.

Still do not have experience with 21 days hold, but...

Probably will cut the whole intl. shipping (on eBay ) as a preventive measure.

Paypal is still nr.1 payment gateway - we can hate it , but it is a fact.

People like Paypal Express - one click checkout at website.

And honestly, they "get me" the day they turn down one chargeback request .

To hell with scammers. I can freely call USPS "scammers" as well, because they play a big role in all problems, and chargebacks.

I hear you.... I have nothing against PayPal per-say
up to this point except for the fact that PayPal and
eBay are actually the same company and theive
together..

I don't buy Paypal's explanation either. I can see placing the hold on *Really* new sellers, that have zero feedback, etc. In my case, they placed this "pending" status on my account when I had over 150 positive feedbacks on eBay, zero negatives, and a rating in all of those categories that was above whatever they were looking for.

Their rationale (I spoke with them on the phone) was that although I had had many more than 25 sales (which is their "newness" threshold), I hadn't yet had 25 sales to buyers in the UNITED STATES. So what? Their pending status wasn't just applied to payments from buyers in the UNITED STATES, it was applied to payments from buyers WORLDWIDE.

The good news, is that it DOES go away, eventually. In my case, I just isolated the reason for it (not having enough sales to US buyers), fixed it, and now the pending status is gone.

At any rate, I don't buy their stated rationale for a moment. I think this is MUCH more about implementing, effectively, a fee increase on new sellers, without saying so explicitly. They're holding your money for 21 days, without interest. If they invest your money at something conservative like 5%, then they're effectively making an extra 0.4% (or something close to that) on each payment, just by holding your funds for 21 days. Considering that Paypal charges ~2.9% fees normally, of which a good chunk goes to the expense of credit card processing, this extra 0.4% could mean a fairly substantial increase in their actual effective profit per transaction that it applies to.

Like I said.............

PayPal/eBay the F%$king GREEDY PIGS.....

Since they force me to include FREE SHIPPING... it is the
buyer that will be penalized with higher costs and eBay
gets penalized with lower sales.. not to mention sellers
migrating to other selling venues...

They have only looked at this short term... Long term will
hurt them..

OK,

Paypal have different rules for CA sellers. Now I get it.

So, you have to sell to at least US buyers to get rid of that holding time.

You get me worried, because I did not receive any notification.

Now I understand why.



Over 3600 100% positive feedback.



Yes, free shipping is a must if you do not want your listing to sink to the bottom ....

They don't really force you but if you offer free shipping you automatically get a 5 star on the shipping costs regardless of what the customer would want to put. Believe it or not there are people that would give you a score less than 5 on shipping even when it is free.:wtf:

Yes, I 've got less than 5 stars on shipping cost - but I think that is international customer.

I think they still can leave shipping rating on intl. transactions - shipping is not free.

Yeah, that rating is bogus. If you agree to the sale, you're obviously ok with the shipping price...

You can always have a second listing for the item that is just for international buyers with the shipping figured in and sold as free shipping to guarantee the 5 stars.;)

Shipping costs... another roundabout way of forcing you to offer
FREE SHIPPING...

What does that matter if you clearly state the Shipping/Handling costs
in the Auction description... Does the customer really think we will
ship out of our pockets...:eek:

A buyer CAN NOT leave a DSR rating if you offer FREE SHIPPING...
eBay locks that Shipping rating at 5 stars and it can't be changed
if selling with FREE SHIPPING.

Yeah, that rating is bogus. If you agree to the sale, you're obviously ok with the shipping price...

After noticing that in that last week I had received a LOW DSR rating

From the 3 customers I received feedback (all positive) in that time
frame one of them left me a LOW DSR rating...

I contacted all 3 buyers and asked why they had left me a Positive
Feedback and Low DSR rating on shipping costs...

Two of the buyers responded and assured me that they indeed did
not leave a low DRS rating but just the opposite..

The only one that did not respond after 2 eBay messages was the
Hypocrite/Jerk above...

You can always have a second listing for the item that is just for international buyers with the shipping figured in and sold as free shipping to guarantee the 5 stars.

That's what I'm doing now to assure a 5 Star rating on shipping
costs. Canada and USA is FREE SHIPPING and international is
a separate fee.

What you see on the invoice, is what you see on the shipping label.

Pretty much solved everything.

Actually, I would bet the percentage to scamming buyers, and scamming sellers is about 50/50.

It is impossible for an established seller to scam a buyer, as ebay/paypal, by default, side with the buyer in any dispute. A buyer doesn't need a reason to want a refund. They want it, sellers are forced to oblige - And the funds are locked until you refund.
Then, so long as they have tracking, they can send you back a brick instead of the ipod you sold, and theres nothing you can do about it.

Now, if you want to take a chance on a 0 feedback seller in Singapore, maybe you will get scammed. About the only way a buyer can get scammed is if the seller withdraws the $$ as soon as they get it, then by the time you file a dispute a week or 2 later, the $$ is gone and the sham account is closed.
It happens, thats why the fb system is important, to give you an idea that you aren't dealing with a potential fly by night scam artist.
I'd say the ratio is more like 95/5

Yeah I saw one of your eBay accounts and there is nothing
or any incentive that would stop any idiot or vindictive buyer
from leaving you a negative or positive feedback with a DSR
rating of 1 across the boards just to screw you for the fun
of it... You have been lucky...

I could get 5 of my friends across the globe to buy the lowest
priced items from you and leave Feedback with low DSR ratings
and within 1 month you would also be on the 21 day payment
Hold policy... You could not even give Negative Feedback to
those buyers even though you know you have done nothing
wrong.

There would be no way for you to know that I was at the center
of that DSR hit... and all other eBay buyers would see you as a
guy that just turned into a risky seller to do business with...

I'm just saying that the eBay FeedBack/DSR system is one sided
and there are malicious buyers out there because there is no
reprisal possible..
