by buying things in bulk we get discounts usually. by having these made in bulk I don't have to pay $90 a barrel to have them made. Now that the initial designs and whatnot are done. once we decide that we want to have another run done up it's only a matter of a few WEEKS. They have this all setup in their cnc machining software and all they gotta do is load the material into the machines then anodize them. Oh

speaking of anodizing. The clear anodizing this company uses leaves the barrels looking kinda flat gold color. Just so you know! I'm looking at the possibility of having these anodized elsewhere where we can get the anodizing to look exactly the way we want and not the only options that this company has
if anyone knows a particular anodizing brand or coloring that's going to get us SILVER please I beg of you let me know. these guys will buy for me what I want if I specify something in particular.

Wow... I really do hope you find another company... gold is so ugly :-/ If you can't keep them silver, black is my second choice (my second choice, there are probably people that really like flat gold... but everyone likes black *hint*). Hope you still find someone who can anodise them and keep them silver! I really don't know any company's though... have you tried googeling 'silver anodising' or just 'anodising' maybe with the name of where you live (no use of an anodising company thats too far away). You can also use google maps btw... if you search for 'anodising' you will probably find some companies that anodise.

so here's the question. should we go with the clear anodizing this run which leaves it gold kind of like this color or should we go with black anodizing. We have about 1 week to decide.

Hey Kenom,

What about Splitting the Order into Two, Half Standard Puky Gold, and Half Black. That way I can get one or two of each!

No Other Colors??? GREEN Anodized Would Be Sweet! (Red as well, and Blue, aaahh, Blue! That would be Sweet!)

Green for Green, Red for Red, Blue for Blue. What more could you ask for!

It's ok to Dream a Little, isn't it?

Thanks!

I can't envision what the gold looks like. Any pictures? Is the black anodizing shiny or matte. If it looks like the WL Fusion black anodizing I'm fine with it. Hmm a matte gold might be something new. :-/

This was the only anodizing company in Montana I found online. They don't mention colors though. simple website. http://www.anodizecoating.com/index.html

xarylx,

I too had a hard time imagining the color. I looked around on Google and found a link to an eBay auction for an anodizing kit. It had a picture of an aluminum bead that looks similar in color (at least with my display's color calibration) to the color Kenom reffered to. Here is the pic.

I'm thinking that the color Kenom used is close to the bead in the middle of the image, but I'm hoping that it's closer to the one to the left.

Either way, I'm thinking that black would be a very good choice if silver is not available. However, if the majority of the members in this group buy prefer gold, that's fine with me. Getting another company to anodize the barrels will just add extra time/hassle/cost, IMO.

P.S. - Kenom, I just sent an email with my order/preference information.

Goldish, well :p that means put me down for black, but it's not that important. I just can't wait to see these in person and get my laser up and running! ;D

Kenom --

I don't know if I got in soon enough but if I am, I don't care what color !! Don't make it soooo complicated that you loose sleep or money.

I really don't care that much either for the price we are getting these for. But my choice would be black.

BLack would be nice but I dont really mind, as long as its not the colour of any particular bodily fluids.
