I noticed that the lens comes in a black holder. Is the lens itself half an inch or is the lens + holder half an inch? If it's the lens + holder, then I can always remove the holder and align it myself.

The lens does not come in a black holder. I bought it and have it here. The lens holder must've been something Angelos had before.

I hope my design is one of the ones with a chance to win ;) I'll upload pics tommorow. They are crappy though because the iPhone doesnt like the spiroscope :(

Hey Jay, two questions:

1. What is your opinion on the high power red beam you are getting. How visible is it in the night sky?
2. How much are you selling your kits for? I think they will sell like hotcakes!

I just added some beam shot comparisons with a 600mW Mitsubishi 638 build and put the pictures at the bottom of the first post in my thread...

Naked eye in the night sky. Nice! Just a hair less side by side with my 600mW 638 on medium power. (670mW's) And much better than the 638 at 2 Watts. :cool:

About the cost of the C-Mount kit. See here: (there are options to save on cost as well - send PM!) :beer:
