405nm's going to 3.8mm diodes

445nm's going to 9mm diodes

This just may be the first signs of the apocalypse

Peace,
dave

are you talking about those 4w multimode 445 diodes that were announced in some thread on the forum?

No. It is worse (or better). It looks like our most popular diode right now is in for an evolution :(

dave

Is that why projectors are scarce? They are getting a fine tuning?

If c@zi0 was smart then they would keep producing projectors the same way since quite a bit of their sales are from laser enthusiasts ;) but i wouldnt mind a 9mm diode if it could supply more power

I cant wait to see the results, I hope you didnt spend your money for nothing. Someone should start a "donate to Dave for his awesomeness" thread :D

Are we allowed to speculate still?

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older, and we wouldn't have to wait so long?

And wouldn't it be nice if these diodes were the more efficient binned ones placed in 3.8mm cans?

Oh, wouldn't it be nice?

Sony rates the smaller package at 50mw less than the 5.6mm.

Not exactly: It rates them to 350 mW at 90 degrees. I'm not sure if they mean die or case temperature by that, but there always is a derating curve for power output vs temperature.

So with proper cooling the performance of the 5.6 and 3.8 diodes might very well be identical, and the difference is only that the 3.8 mm ones are intended for smaller drives that have less heatsinking ability.

LOL. They predict the Rapture about every 3 years where I live.

I doubt I'd be going up. :yabbem:

Dave, sorry if I missed something, but what do you mean 445nm's going to 9mm:confused:?

There are now two different diode array configurations. The one we all know and love (5.6mm diodes) and one that (we believe) uses 9mm 445nm diodes.

It looks like the one we all use will still be around. These others will be in addition to them for now.

We will know for sure about these 9mm diodes shortly

Peace,
dave

Oh, okay. My apocalypse right now and for a lot of others here is no Flex Drives:cryyy:. By the way I sent you a PP contribution to help offset the cost of your research on the 3.8mm diode

Thank you

That was very kind of you

I do not have a smiley that portrays my feelings, right now

I am stuck with this one :thanks:

Re: the flexdrives -- drlava is estimating arrival at any time . . . . .

His original estimate would have them here already. This is the longest I have known him to be out of stock :(

Peace,
dave
