Hi BM, Thank you buddy the two together make a great pointer .

@ Alex,
Yes with a G2 its well over 110 to 115mW but these diode as Paul said has a square artifact. But with a 3 element it disappears and forms a nice round dot and a 3 E lens set to 275mA does about 106 to 109 mW's . Here is another i finished today 495nm full copper.

Rich:)

That's odd as Zach said he is using a 3 element lens and has the artifact on his. I have searched on other builds for any glass lens that removes it with no success. Which 3 element lens are you using, Rich? I have many and would like to try the one you are using to see if I get your results.

Hi,
I bought them some time back and don't remember where . I usually don't use them only G2's. I will look into it though. At first i was going to try some of the 2 elements i have but when i put this 3E in i was amazed how the square artifact went away and focused a nice dot.

Do you have more than just this one? I would love to see ANY glass lens that gives the result you claim. I have used ones that are AR coated from 405nm to 465nm with no luck at all. I haven't found any specifically AR coated for 488nm to >495nm. Anything you can give me in the way of information would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate that, Rich. This has been an ongoing problem with these Sharp diodes and you are the first to claim a glass lens that doesn't have that rectangular artifact. I would love to see a glass lens that completely eliminates it.

Agreed. Would love a glass lens for my 477 build that doesn't catch the stray die reflections in the final output. Love the beam specs of these diodes but that offset rectangle drives my CDO nuts sometimes.

It has been a problem with my 477nm, my 502nm and my 493nm builds. Any glass lens that eliminates it would be worth paying good money for.

Nice build Zach sorry for being late to the party also nice host great combination great for your collection!

I’m going to add again that the 2 element 520 coated glass lens removes the artifact compleatly, seems some don’t believe me, they are there on DTR,s site
He has also mentioned it many times in threads regarding green diodes and there artifacts if it will eliminate the artifacts in a 488 I’m sure it will do better for a 495.

Here is one of the first 2 495 diodes that came out, look closely no artifact!
