I ensure you all of them follow simple logic, really. I invite you to ask me a random one and you will be astonished at how easy it was. They are all perfectly understandable, the difference between higher or lower IQ is how well and fast you're able to find it out without help, and yes, not everyone see that kind of things because not everyone has high IQ.

Btw, they're able to tell your IQ (always approximately) by only asking you that kind of questions because it has been proved that general intelligence and logic ability are usually very closely related. As I said on another post, this is just the general rule. There's people with very high IQ who don't score a shit on these logic patterns things, usually the ones that are devoted to art instead science ;)

Yeah...we all sound really smart.

Its a stupid internet IQ test. You can be an idiot, and still recognize patterns. I did a couple of random pass throughs and did OK on a few LOL. Your IQ is not based on logic alone, and there is no pressure sitting behind your screen. The one I did in 7th grade had reading, and comprehension. Mathematics, psychology, logic problems like these, and some others I cant remember. This is just a general test, it really doesn't mean anything either way. Unless you scored lower than an 80 LOL. Plus its easy to cheat. If you do the same test over and over, you can figure it out eventually.

@TJ: I was told these tests are much more accurate than people think, even Mensa uses them to score their member. I also did one of these tests on school two years ago (for which my parents paid 80$, btw) and scored exactly the same than here and the same that on the Mensa one.

I know someone who is into all these IQ tests, downloads lots of tests, most of them for the ultra-high-iq range. He and always refers to this .dk test as the best type of test (which is Raven's progressive matrices). The best IQ test is one that is invariant from culture and education and allows infinite time. This does not count for most of the normal ranged tests (IQ's 80-120) but for higher aimed tests, this is practically a requirement. The idea is that a test is composed of problems of increasing difficulty, and a person with a certain IQ is only able to solve a certain number of those problems, even when given infinite time and resources. The problems therefore need to be abstract, and not someting that can be looked up in a dictionary or calculated with a mathematical algorithm (eg. brute force). Some of the lesser tests restrict the requirements to infinite time and only a desk calculator and reference aids (eg. the Cooijmans Intelligence Test). It is also imperative that answers to the problems are NOT discussed online, as this will encourage cheating.

Btw, I'm a member of mensa, and scored 99th percentile. I don't remember my IQ on the .dk test but I only couldn't answer two questions, which pretty much tells me I hit the roof on that test. This friend, who is a lot smarter than me btw, guesses my IQ at 150.

Even Mensa is flawed. IQs cant tell you how fast your going to think in a fight or fight situation. It can tell you what you are going to do in an emergence situation. Who has the higher IQ, the man who know the encyclopedia back to back, but pisses his pants when someone pulls a knife on a woman, or the guy that cant read, but knows how to operate the heavy machines that save lives? Neither are idiots, and neither are geniuses. Those test are pretty much bogus, and dont hold much weight in the real world.
 
IQ is not about being superior. It is about being able to do something better than others of the species. Even people with a high IQ have other flaws. It is wrong to look at intelligent people as the common believe, that an intelligent person is just like a normal person, but more intelligent. In fact, being intelligent means that you think in a different way than the mainstream. The difference increases exponentially with intelligence. The most common symptom is not being able to communicate with people on the same level. The threshold for this is usually taken as 30 IQ points. This means that an average person will not be able to have a normal conversation with someone with IQ 140, just because their thinking patterns are just too different. (unless they lower their level of communication, which can be seen as a form of acting (in fact I'm doing it right now, with the aid of a couple of beers)).

Btw, what you are describing as the run-and-flee situations, those are controlled by a lower primate brain function called amygdala and has nothing to do with intelligence.

And knowing the encyclopedia back to back is also not a form of intelligence,. it is proof of a above average ability of analog thinking, which is in itself inferior to the patterns of associative thinking which is in turn interior to integrated thinking (the way geniuses like the great philosophers and composers think).

Actually, most things seen as 'flaws' are actually thought patterns which are consequences from having a high IQ that are not generally accepted. For example, I'm having great difficulty learning stuff though the system used by universities because it calls upon a great amount is analog information (information that you just learn as-is; the opposite of associative information) because I'm a strong associative thinker and can only remember things when I can get them fully 'in context'. I'm also seen as not-social because I can't socialize with anyone in my circle, class at university or in a pub, but that is just because we differ by more than 30 IQ points

I second all what this guy said. Btw, I think you and I got the same result on the test because we can't solve the same ones I guess. Am I wrong or you're also lost with the ones consisting of a grid with squares triangles and circles? xD I'd like someone to explain them...

About the time limit, all in all I wasted the 40 mins on that one like 30 mins for 38 questions and 10 more trying to solve those 2 lol

I dunno, I took the test more than a year ago. At least one of those is the very last question.

My GFs grandfather was a genius. He was trained in Oxford, had multiple degrees in engineering, chemistry, and piles more I cant recall at the moment. He pioneered in the first radar development for the US government, he created the the new ways to ignite explosives safely, he was part of the crew that developed the first copy machines for Xerox, and boat loads of other stuff that helped changed the world. I have pretty much a 7th grade education, and we could talk for hours. I maybe understood a 10th of what he said, but I learned a lot. He even learned a few things from me too. Quite a few actually. So I have to disagree about 2 people from the opposite side of the scale cant communicate. Obviously not mentally handicapped people, but I do think people can find common ground, and learn from each other. As long as you have the ability to learn, people will always be able to communicate.

The fight or flight can be overcome by thought. I know, I've been there many times. I consider this as being part of ones intelligence. Does this make me a genius? No, but it doesn't make me a moron either. And it does not take a genius to learn the encyclopedia either. I've known many book smart people, and in the real world they have air between their ears. My doctor is classic. The guy is incredible at what he does, but everything besides that he has no clue. We laugh about all the time. Art is another good example. You can learn and play music note for note extremely well, but if you dont have the heart and soul for it, you will never succeed. So are you a genius, or a moron because you cant touch someones heart?

Point is there is no test to see how smart or stupid you really are. We all have the ability to be really smart, and really stupid at the same time. The tests are all generalized, and you cant generalize people.
 
About the last one:

X changes into O, O changes into triagles, triangles change into X. Meanwhile the whole sequence also shifts a position, but you can figure it out if you look carefully.
