I have a JDSU 2214-ML40 and love it But I would like to add to my collection.
Here are a couple things I'm looking for:

1. I would like the plasma tube to be visible.(or the cover could be removed)
2. I need a power supply included.
3. Power anywhere from 6-25mW
4. Something I could possible combine with my Argon?
5.i have 220V/30A available but would like to keep it to 115VAC.

If you have something we can talk price range depending what you have.
I wanted to come here first and buy from a member before I check into eBay but if you see any deals there let me know.

I am open to other ideas!
Also I have a healthy 2.2 W m140 (@1.8a) I could trade. It's also in the b/s/t section.

Thanks guys!
Jefferson.

Do you want a new or used tube? New is substantially more than used or general surplus. I have a new uniphase hene with the mounts and a lab power supply. As well as a couple melles griot p-122 tubes. If you want a used one, ebay is a good place. You can generally get some for pretty cheap. Just depends on how much you want to spend and how pretty the tube will be.

Hey I have been away from my computer for a bit but I will email you with a sweet pic of my green HeNe tonight. Sorry about the delay.

Actually I just went to a laser show at Eastern Florida State College and now I want a Arkr. That show was incredible. Realistically that's not in my immediate future. Anyways-

Thanks for responding,
I found this listing but it seems a bit high.
JDSU 1144P HeNe Helium Neon Laser Tube 20mW Polarized Holography 1145P 1 | eBay

Used is ok as long as its in good shape. I'm looking for something a bit bigger then the p-122 but that's a beautiful laser.

that's a nice tube. 249 isn't bad at all for 20mW. I'm sure you're used to the power of the Argon...but you won't find that in a HeNe. to get that kind of power, the tube would have to be like my incoming SP-127. several feet long and weighing in at 20-30 pounds. 20+mW from a hene is a lot. that tube would be much like my yellow or green. it'll be pretty long, and have higher power requirements.

The other thing about that tube is that it is polarized. Not many 20+mW Polarized tubes are available at that price range. Usually you see the polarized ones hitting 400+

Apriljessica on eBay has some really nice prices, make sure you PM her with an offer (she usually goes some $50 below the list price)

I never said anything about this in case she asks :p

Ok so $249 isn't a bad price? I might pick that up. I noticed that a lot of HeNes only put out a few mW. I'm going to scan the listing again but I didn't see anything about a power supply hmm

Nope :( It's a very old device (1986)... a HeNe with 8 flux capacitors in parallel across it!

Just go 88 mph with it and BOOM! Back to tha future you go!
I was born in 1988 so I believe the Grandfather Paradox dictates I cannot go back. But let's entertain the idea. If I could I would slap Steve Jobs for dreaming up Apple TV, snubbing flash player, the stupid hockey puck mouse, and other irritating features.

It a bit older then what I'm looking for but it's very cool none the less, I love that vintage steampunk look.

If you want a decent 20mW HeNe, look for the following model numbers:

21-22.5mW --- Uniphase 1144P, or 1145P
25mW --- Melles Griot 831 or 827
30mW --- Melles Griot 931
35mW --- Melles Griot 927 or 928
35mW --- Spectra Physics 107 or 127 (same laser as above 927/928) these are about 1m.
50mW --- Spectra Physics 125A. These weigh 150lbs, and use a 1.8m resonator ;)

All of the lasers from 21 - 30mW require special PSUs that will be the same cost of the laser (~$150-200) without luck.

The last few are self-enclosed units with PSUs already. They have Brewster windows and external mirrors. They also rarely work unless it's an aligned hard seal. Though aligning one isn't a terrible endeavor.

If it lights after many years, it's likely a hard seal. Though doubtful it'll do quoted output.

Though I've seen an SP-127 that output 46.5mW ;)

Pretty much everything after 1990 or so hard sealed bloom ;) I believe they started that mid-80s.

And the minimum from this tube is 17mW so I'd say its likely healthy, but it is a power hog. A whopping 3800VDC at 6.5mA & I think its one of the few tubes that uses a 15K start. It's quite a beast. Look for a JDSU 1218 supply. If not Voltex sells a lab supply that will run it, but bear in mind lab supplies are expensive. Originally that tube retailed in the xxxx.xx digits. So be prepared to fork out some $. Amazing deal, just pricy.

Hmm finding a power supply could be an issue. I would like to use this to combine with my argon. What's minimum mW I could use to achieve white light?

Here is my old but reliable HENE 6328 from years ago. Pretty bright for 30mw, but I think it's doing a little more.

Enjoy
