Finally found a decently priced (and in good condition) PS brick that was DC to run this sucker. following a little advice on what to use to power it, finally went with a 12V 1.5A Wall Wart to run it. Its now up and lasing about 2.55mW or so of beautiful 632.8nm Red photons!
never you mind its stealthy 594.1nm big brother in the background...It'll get the spotlight soon enough....
now I just need to tackle the uniphase, its little sister in crime only takes 1KV @3.7mA....
I used a 75K ballast on it, bringing the tube up to about 1930V @ 6.5mA.
The divergence out the the mirror is actually fantastic on its own, so I doubt I'll be adding a lens to it. the bare output is a very clean round TEM00.
