[WTB] 1500mW+ Laser Handhelds : Preferably (1600-1800mW)

Well not really, but it is embarrassing sometimes when you are talking to someone about something only to be pointed out that the thing your talking about isn't really the color you see. I always get mocked on by my friends and occasionally my girlfriend, since I don't take it too darn serious about it lol. Since I always help my friends that are architect students, I usually offer only to help design but will not do any color balancing work because I'll more than often mess something up lol. The effects on everyday life is very subtle as the main colors I can see are fine, but when the problematic colors appear, I may get confused at times.

On other things such as playing games and such, I can still differentiate and play mostly normally, but in some games, it would just help if they had color blind mode, and they usually do. Heh

How does color blind mode work? does it allow you to adjust to what colors are "problematic" ? And lets you play with colors that you can define easily>?

Color blind mode works by shifting the shade of the color or the hue of it so that it alters slightly. Even slight alterations with the problematic colors will help aid or even rid of the color blindness problem totally. It's just that sometimes you don't know that the color you are looking at is not the color which it really is. Besides that, there is really no problem, since it really takes a pretty specific color to fool us color blind people.

Were you born this way? And I'm sure every different color bind person has different color blindness so that must be hard.

well I was born this way and its not as bad as it sounds :D. You probably wouldn't even know that Im color blind even if I lived with you for a year. Perhaps you might because I usually end up embarrassing myself by calling out wrong colors. But other than that, Its all fine :D:angel:

Nah its not that bad, atleast I try to not notice it anyways, though its rather hard. haha.

Anyhow, theres some good news: atlast I have settled down with TWO units which will come from two separate members. One from JakeGT and the other from Sparkles. Both are High powered units that are perfectly made, and I shall be expecting them soon. Theres also an odd story loop behind the two lasers and I think I should let Sparkles handle the story telling :D

And of course, Thank you, guys for helping me.

I'm glad you asked, and the answer is yes, I completely know the risks and have been involved with lasers for years. It's just that I usually hang around at Candle powered forum as I have mentioned in my self introductory post. Previously I have been working in coordination with CNI in allowing group buys at CPF b k when the PCL-IIIC was ssomething close to 280 dollars excluding shipping since I sent someone to pick it up. Well as ignorant my post seems to be, I would just like to re-ensure you that I have had my shares In experiencing lasers and it's powers. As for the safety equipments, yes 2 pairs of safety goggles ordered from dragon lasers with acceptable-high OD Rating for the 445nm spectrum range. As for the 1w handhelds, I have yet to own one of my own, though I guess an industrial laser at one of my family's automotive production plant will do. I have seen much for what a laser can do to a sheet of metal, let alone the risking it on human flesh. I am intact not buying this unit for my leisure, but to demonstrate to the Thai science committee of it's dangers and getting it to become a controlled product since recently there has been a flood of high powered lasers from Chinese manufacturers to Thailand. You guys think wicked lasers is bad? Imagine 200mw lasers being sold widely at cheap prices in a market area, which I bet you guys know, called chatuchak day market. Anyone can buy it, even five year olds if they have enough money. The safety in sales of such tools are barely controlled here, so I was just going to make a difference. It took them over 100 incidents to control the sales of a BB gun, imagine how many it would take for the laser.

As per Aranthos' post, as a matter of fact I do own a gun. A .45 LAR grizzly MK.V... Comparing the laser to a gun is an understatement, the laser is much more dangerous, and can be much more so than a gun as you can carry it around in your pocket. Hell, it could be anyone here in Thailand.

I am a grown man, and completely know the dangers of wielding such equipments, and is willing to accept all responsibilities regarding the use of such equipments. Just because I was trying to over optimistically mention my WTB does not mean I am what I may seem to have been. I must apologize for misleading you guys and should bring the thread to a more serious note here. Anyhow....

I am glad that the question was asked :D ! It's great to know you guys are stressing safety as much as I do here, guess it was a great decision to migrate here after the vegetating state of the CPF forums :) . So anyone want to offer me a good mighty unit that would demonstrate it's power? I know you guys might say 1W is more than enough, but with the demonstrations aside, At the end of the day I just want a true collector's piece that I could cherish and not think later on that, maybe I should have bought. a more powerful unit. Yeah it's ridiculous coming from a guy who's driving a 600 horsepower car at the track daily, but hey, it's my job, and education the Thai public is mine too. The last thing I'd want is the ban of lasers simply because of an unknowing user who blinds someone else. Hope you guys understand. Cheers

Welcome to LPF:)

Helloooo Folks, Here to report that the first unit is in. This unit is the which was generously sold by JakeGT. You can find this unit in his Sig (the First one with review).

Upon recieving this item today, I'd have to say, Boy was a I pissed, and I'll tell you why :) . As excited as I was when I recieved it in the mail, I hurried to open the box, only to find that there was a smaller box IN the box. I made this discovery no less than 5 times before seeing what seemingly resembles a box only large enough to pack a laser inside. I was glad to know that it was the last of them boxes, but as I approached in opening the last box, I discovered that there was a massive amount of plastic bubble wraps wrapped around the laser. I continued to rip apart the the wraps, and tada! I have finally reached the laser! It literally took me 15 minutes to get through atleast 20 layers of wraps and boxes. But in the end, It was truly worth it.

The Unit is crisp, no scratches nor defects, flew in just fine with Fedex with not a single dent in the Box. Jake was even kind enough to provide the batteries, of which, Fedex has not recommended shipping them. Thank you very much JakeGT, It has been wonderful working with you till the end, finishing the transaction with ease.
He has been no less than a professional in answering all my questions and doubts.

As for Thailand's Customs; I noticed that there was a sign of them opening the first box, which was labled as FedEx, Large Box, But there seems to be no sign of further intrusion, which should be due to the massive wrappings, Thus explaining why my item has cleared the customs in less than half an hour. Silly Them.

Now, all I have to wait for is the second unit which will be sent in by Sparkles, and hopefully, all will be great.

Thank you everyone, for all the assistance, now, what is left is seeing the response of the science committee....

I'm building the same laser from Jayrob's kit. I just got my diode and lens assembley in a few days ago. Definately need some beam shots to know what I'm in for!

Glad you enjoy it sir! Remember, do NOT demonstrate indoors UNLESS, everybody in the room has OD+4 (at least) laser goggles on. including YOU

...
I can't get into the yellow shirt link without registering, so what's up?
....
The link goes to an image of a good looking girl in a very tight yellow shirt and bra.

So, you are upset that there were boxes within boxes and a large amount of bubble wrap?
I'm confused because usually people appreciate protection of delicate/expensive electronics when shipping. Also, this probably prevented cust0ms from getting at the laser itself when they opened the outer box. :tsk:

this 100%

Make sure you demonstrate this in a controlled environment with the proper safey equipment for all observers.

He said that as a joke, saying like "haha, I was upset(joking) because jakeGT packaged the dang thing so good and it took so long to actually get to the laser because of the PHENOMENAL packaging "
haha

Exactly what Jake said. The packaging was PHENOMENAL, quite literally. I bet this thing would be certified by the FAA as plane crash worthy, with jake's packaging. I'm testing it out right now and it's all great. Just have to fix the loose lens problem tho

The lens is an issue with all aixiz lenses, you will either need to put a spring in there, or as reccomended as to not hurt the lens, use some thread tape. If I did not leave the thread tape on your lens, it is because I was not sure if you would want it on there, but it really does a good job at keeping the lens secure and steady in there. YOu take some thread tape or (teflon tape) and put 1 and a 1/2 wraps around the top half of the lens like in this picture, and that should keep it steady in there good and tight!

Once again sorry if i didn't leave the thread tape on there, and if i did, you can take it off, and put 2 wraps around it

Yeah I already placed thread tape on it as it helps alot, but the wobble I was referring to was the actual glass lens in it's actual screw housing. It seems to wobble quite a bit, and kinda messes up the focus sometimes. I don't suppose that it is designed to do this
