I'm glad you asked, and the answer is yes, I completely know the risks and have been involved with lasers for years. It's just that I usually hang around at Candle powered forum as I have mentioned in my self introductory post. Previously I have been working in coordination with CNI in allowing group buys at CPF b k when the PCL-IIIC was ssomething close to 280 dollars excluding shipping since I sent someone to pick it up. Well as ignorant my post seems to be, I would just like to re-ensure you that I have had my shares In experiencing lasers and it's powers. As for the safety equipments, yes 2 pairs of safety goggles ordered from dragon lasers with acceptable-high OD Rating for the 445nm spectrum range. As for the 1w handhelds, I have yet to own one of my own, though I guess an industrial laser at one of my family's automotive production plant will do. I have seen much for what a laser can do to a sheet of metal, let alone the risking it on human flesh. I am intact not buying this unit for my leisure, but to demonstrate to the Thai science committee of it's dangers and getting it to become a controlled product since recently there has been a flood of high powered lasers from Chinese manufacturers to Thailand. You guys think wicked lasers is bad? Imagine 200mw lasers being sold widely at cheap prices in a market area, which I bet you guys know, called chatuchak day market. Anyone can buy it, even five year olds if they have enough money. The safety in sales of such tools are barely controlled here, so I was just going to make a difference. It took them over 100 incidents to control the sales of a BB gun, imagine how many it would take for the laser.
As per Aranthos' post, as a matter of fact I do own a gun. A .45 LAR grizzly MK.V... Comparing the laser to a gun is an understatement, the laser is much more dangerous, and can be much more so than a gun as you can carry it around in your pocket. Hell, it could be anyone here in Thailand.
I am a grown man, and completely know the dangers of wielding such equipments, and is willing to accept all responsibilities regarding the use of such equipments. Just because I was trying to over optimistically mention my WTB does not mean I am what I may seem to have been. I must apologize for misleading you guys and should bring the thread to a more serious note here. Anyhow....
I am glad that the question was asked
! It's great to know you guys are stressing safety as much as I do here, guess it was a great decision to migrate here after the vegetating state of the CPF forums
. So anyone want to offer me a good mighty unit that would demonstrate it's power? I know you guys might say 1W is more than enough, but with the demonstrations aside, At the end of the day I just want a true collector's piece that I could cherish and not think later on that, maybe I should have bought. a more powerful unit. Yeah it's ridiculous coming from a guy who's driving a 600 horsepower car at the track daily, but hey, it's my job, and education the Thai public is mine too. The last thing I'd want is the ban of lasers simply because of an unknowing user who blinds someone else. Hope you guys understand. Cheers
