would one of these be good in a projector?

In terms of Amperes?

Not sure there are 1W, 635nm diodes but I may be wrong. I'm certain that if there were 1W diodes, then the beam would be almost unworkable. Good correction optics would be essential. Best bet would probably be to combine lower output diodes using either PBS cubes or, more likely, knife-edge a number of them with a complex build and optics. Then you have to deal with power to several diodes and keeping them cool...

Not an easy question to answer but Andy would probably know more. Ahem, Andy?

635 is very expensive. aXit (member here) contacted CNI about 800mW of 635 and got a quote of several thousand dollars if memory serves.

well I have a catalog on the way from CNI so I will find out soon enough what's what, if not them then maybe an ebay special

you can get 1watt 635nm 9mm diodes, ive got three but they are very very rare and multi modal.

your best to go with 640nm very bright and excellent beam specs

Is it possible to do dual knife edgs( using two pairs of LOCs) and then combine them into one beam with a BSC combiner?

Could the 8 mirror assembly found inside the Casio projectors be used for knife edging?

Also am I correct my thinking that Analogue Modulation has also TTL, but TTL is not any analogue?? TTL combines(7 colors) but analogue blends ( more colors)\

thanks for the help-

MGL-H-532nm-1W with 10% stability, analog 10K, PSU-H-OEM/Unit USD1215.00
PGL-V-H-447nm-1W with 10% stability, analog 10K, PSU-I-OEM/Unit USD440.00
MRL-III-FS-635nm-900mW with 10% stability, analog 10K, PSU-III-OEM/Unit USD1650.00( at the monment, we just can provide actual 950mW output power)
thats what I got back so far

Those are some very excellent prices, ESPECIALLY on that 635.

You can knife edge a set of beams polarized in one direction and do the same with another set, polarized in the opposite direction and combine those resultant 'beams' with a PBS cube for a high power red, but be careful as Arctos has a patent pending on this process (no, really) and they could go after you if they catch you using it in a paid gig.

Edit2: Hak, good read starting here: http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/my-take-quad-red-52626-2.html#post764701

Not planning on using anything in "paid gigs" this is simply for me and my girl to enjoy on those cold winter nights.:yh:

Oh that was at Hakzaw, sorry for any confusion  And if it's just you in your home, you don't need *that* much power, you're looking at nearly a 3W projector for inside use?

really? where did you get this info from?

532nm - 445nm
1 - 1

532nm - 635nm
1 - 1

532nm - 660nm
1 - 4

I got this information from the CIE tables for the luminosity function. The values i stated are for equally bright looking beams/dots of each wavelength. The values required for exact white appearance are slightly different depending on the exact wavelengths used, but very close (within a few percent).

This doesnt mean that you cannot make a full color projection using equal amounts of 445, 532 and 635 though. Provided many combinations are present in the show, the full mix woul still appear (most) white to an observer. The projection as a whole would appear very green though when viewed side by side with oher light source.

what would be a decent power for indoor use, I'm just thinking 1w of each since I can compare that to my Arctic which is currently the only laser I own. I have only taken an interest in projection since I have seen some of the member's builds.
I guess with a little smoke in the air 200mw of any color would be impressive especially 532
