I bought a 445 laser on here awhile back. I noticed that at times it would start flashing and fig it was. A low battery. I didn't have a charger at the time. But my fluke showed 4.3v so idk. It runs for 30 sec then flashes

Any ideas?

Either low battery or maybe heat shutoff. I know some lasers have an auto shutoff for when it heats up too much.

If your batts are reading over 4v... Then it's most likely that the driver is overheating. The only way to remedy this is to have the driver heatsinks properly. Reach out to a reputable builder here and make him an offer to fix it for you.

I have a couple that do that. I always assumed it was a low battery because I put in a new one and it works OK.

Is it a fairly slow "blinking" or a faster "pulsing"?
Do you know what driver it is?
What is the host?

It could also be that the batteries are failing or are insufficient
They will read at the correct voltage, but not be able to deliver the needed current

It could also be a dirty connection somewhere
The oxidation is not allowing enough current through

I would start with new batteries
Then cleanup ALL of the electrical connections

Heat sinking the driver is always a good idea

Peace,
dave

Depending on the Host/Driver used, it may be difficult to get to the driver to heatsink it. For example, those using C6 Hosts with Round linear drivers may understand that once that driver has been pressed into the pill, it is VERY difficult to get it out.........

.......in one piece :eg::oops::undecided:

Pictures will help here, if you can manage it.

Are your batteries protected? I have seen this before with protected batteries and large current draws in the higher power builds. I assume since its 445 that its 1W + Tell us more about the laser.

B33M- How long do you run it before
the flashing starts? I have had this happen
and I added heat sinking and a new cell.
All the answers given are on the mark
for your problem but you need to start
looking into those good suggestions.
