Well, if you're actually serious about it, heads pop up all the time on places like eBay and BMI. Hell, I just picked up an old SP375 for $50 with pristine optics and a nice sapphire nozzle. Nobody wants the things anymore.

Circulators may be a bit more difficult to get ahold of, but if you don't want to wait for one to pop up you could probably build one that goes to equal or even higher pressures than the commercial ones without too much hassle.

As for the actual dyes themselves, you shouldn't have any trouble getting ahold of some of the common rhodamines or even coumarins. There's a myriad of chemical suppliers that have them. All you really need from there is a pump laser and a stable place to put it...

Have you thought about building your own 7 color laser with RGB and dichroics? I am about halfway through building mine bench-top style and then I'm going to put it all in a small handheld pointer. I'll post pics of my bench-top build here in a month or so. Perhaps you could build an RGB as well.
 
I'd go for a 375nm diode. It's not cheap but a lot of the stuff in your collection isn't, either.

Another option is the optlasers RGB module.

I'm down to two options now -- either an RGB projector, or an Aurora 589.
I'm not sure which projector to get if I choose the projector. Any suggestions?

Personally I'd go for the wickedlasers laserdock, looks like a fancy machine. Really well put together. Very pricey though, 700$ I believe.

I had thought they used to be cheaper, maybe I've lost my mind? :thinking:

That's a good way to go if you're going down that road. You can pick the power/RGB ratio/beam specs yourself to suit your needs. It also means you can plan out extra space for future upgrades. ;)

Some of the Chinese budget RGB projector options out there are pretty decent, offerings from Goldenstar look good, but there are others. I'd check PL or the "Laserist" page on FB for more recommendations.
 
Facebook laserists is surprisingly helpful and fast. If you do a projector do you plan on doing any public shows.. that will be the huge cost factor. That and analog vs ttl
 
These RGB units are getting good, ArcticDude posted some nice pics, any color you want in a clean beam.
 
Yes Optlasers RGB would be a good choice. A true high quality model.
