What is needed to get a B&W Tek up and lasing

I found a B&W Tek laser for a decent amount of money but it sounds like the seller just doesnt know what he has. He said it comes with the laser and control module. From the photos it looks like the cable coming from the laser is male 15 pins (module has a female 15 pin input for this cable). Then there is a male 9 pin output from the control module. My question is what is needed to power this bad boy, where can I get one and how much.

I am taking a HUGE risk by dropping what im assuming is a few hundred on this set up (depending on the price of the PSU). This will be my first lab laser and its of a wavelength that id LOVE LOVE LOVE to own. Sorry for not posting links or names but this is something I want to keep secret/under wraps until i get an idea of price. If its something im not able to afford or interested in then by all means ill share my source to anyone interested. He has about 6 B&W lasers so im asking about a bundle in hopes that 1 of them will work

I saw the listing as well, but ill let you get em. The title and description says "for parts not working", then further down it says "these have been tested, and work". So IDK what thats about, seems fishy to me..

Listing :thinking: if you are talking about a greedbay listing then we are not even in the same ballpark. Found this one on another website and contacted the seller, he said he had 5 or 6 laying around that were purchased from a college "estate" sale so to speak. IDK the proper wording but i know UMass does it all the time and they sell some KICK A$$ lab lasers for dirt cheap, they dont do them often but when they do it again im bringing a few grand and cleaning house!

Anyways, thanks for the advice on the working/not working but its a risk i think im willing to take. Just need to know the PSU situation. I cant seem to locate one or info on them anywhere. Probably not searching the right terms since this would be my first lab lasers

ARG if you do have one please PM me with info and pricing. I know shipping might be a little on the rough side depending on size but we can talk about it.

Pricing varies. He has a few that are "died" for i believe somewhere around $40 (dont recall since they are dead and idc for them). The weak unit is around $90 and the stronger ones are around $100. He doesnt have a LPM but he says they lase obviously i wont buy without evidence. Ill prob try and talk him down on a combo deal and see what else he has laying around

nice. i would snag one too if i came on that deal- best of luck getting them running. I have seen several people get the "10mW" units up to ~80mW, by realigning, taking off the photodiode, etc etc.

Re-alignment on these is fairly straight forward, albeit hairy and tedious. If the unit lases and doesn't overhear then you can usually jury rig the TECs and PDs and do a realignment to max out the output. They're solid lil buggers. I got mine to do I think 76mW before I sold it off.

So as long as there is some light coming from them then you can pretty much realign them to laser properly? I think one of the "died" ones was considered dead since it was all jacked up and didnt have a "dot" but scattered light

You guys need to get MarioMaster to help.... he has done work on dozens of these same labbies-

I have two --destined for LUMIA IIRC I got one for ~$70 and the second sold as "for parts only' for 35$ BOTH worked fine and the 70 $ one only made one mW more-

I do know this ALL TOO WELL do NOT brush the back of your hand across the driver- OUCH!!!! very painful bite I got!! I have not changed anything on mine (yet)- i hope some info that is valid will be posted in this thread-- hak

Hak, I did a search and saw that MarioMaster had like 8x 473nm ones so im going to PM him if i get a "broken" one and it looks too complex for me. I mean anything over basic soldering prob wont happen since i wont be able to use my right arm for 4-6 weeks starting xmas eve.......dang surgery! Already trying to get a "back up" set up for my Kryton build if i dont get all the parts in time to build it myself. I want to build it myself but if surgery arrives first i want to send the parts to a trusted builder to assemble so i can use it while i recover!

I did fairly serious damage to the bicep on my right arm and thinking it was something that would heal I did not show this to a doctor until it was too late- I tore tendons or something and the bicep- is now permanetly messed up- all I need to do to 'flex' is raise my arm- hk

Actually surgery is to remove melanoma. Wish it was something other than cancer Already had one surgery but need another to get it all.
