What happens to an xboost when input voltage is at 8.4v

just like the title says,
what happens to an x boost driver when the input voltage is 8.4volts.

haven't been building for a while and am a bit rusty so dont chastise me for this.

I was trying to fix some old builds and wanted to test the drivers. attached them to a host holding 2 16340 batteries, powered it on and took a reading, 2.1 amps.
clearly thats not right, tossed the driver and just realized today I had the input voltage way higher than allowed.

Nothing good happens when a device is driven outside of its input range.

Put it on a test load and see if it still performs as intended.

Yeah you could fry it in only seconds, but if there are no burn marks and there was no burn smell or gray wisps of smoke, then it may still be ok.

Here is what can happen when they are
heatsinked and run at 4.2V.

To this day I'm not really sure what it was,
but the Angelos are kind.

Yup. I burned up an SXB. I had my PS set for 8v and After about 15 seconds on the test load there was a pop then an orange flame as one of the components gave up the ghost.

Silly mistake. Don't make the same.
