Right now I just have my HTC Desire smartphone. :( I used to have a Canon Powershot A570, but it broke and I couldn't fix it. :(

Sorry about your camera. :undecided:

What's this 'digital' you speak of?
I own:
Pentax K110D
Pentax K1000
Pentax ME Super SE
18-55, 50mm f/1.7, 50mm f/2 (x2), 70-300
Nikon D70
18-55, 50mm f/1.8
Canon Rebel XT
18-55
Plus a few Canon point n shoots

On thing I frown upon digital technology is that since a shot is virtually free, unlike film, people, including me, tend to just squeeze the shutter without giving much thought about it. While on the other hand, if each roll of film costs money to buy and develop, I think we would be more sincere and thoughtful while taking pics. Just my two cents. :)

Why do you own three 50mm for a Pentax mount?

Mind my curiosity, but why do you have a Nikon AND a Canon DSLR?

Nikon D60
18-55 kit lens
Nikor 50 f/1.8 (my best $ spent on glass & my fav all around lense)

Canon ELPH 520 wifehandonomically designed (by far most impressive point-n-shoot under 300$ Ive seen)

Fujifilm s2950 fav feature on this camera is 2cm super macro is awesome
decent avg performance in its price range

iphone 4s cant complain for a cellphone

Yes, I tried the Nikkor 50 f/1.8 and wow, it was awesome considering the price.
Definitely hands down the best performance per price lens out there!

Edit: What's a "wifehandonomically designed" camera?

Thanks for your input guys!
Cheers!

Got the notice yesterday! More than nine months after the announcement, my 1DX has shipped! :D

Whoohoo! Congratulations! You must be super excited. :)

Hope so see some nice pics from the beast! :na:

Cheers!

haha. The canon ELPH cameras are really small the aren't ergonomically correct for a man

Hahaha, gotcha. I was thinking too seriously about it. I even googled it to find no hits.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm literally laughing right now.

Cheers!

I must have girly hand because I have the Canon IXUS 115HS camera beside the Canaon 7D. :D

Congratulations on your new camera!

Lomography is a camera company that builds really cheap (offence intended) gear but produce vivid and artistic photos.
Some even take advantage of the leaking light to create beautiful pieces of art.

Wow, just checked the price on Amazon, and you got a really great deal! A new one retails from $60!

Again, congrats on your new camera. Hope you have fun with it!

Cheers!

I peeled off the layers of price tags; the original price was $75! Ha, so it's a company geared towards Japanese camera buffs. Double exposures and other "mistakes" are encouraged. Looking forward to taking some wide-angled long exposure nighttime shots of laser light!

Nikon D300s
Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G VRII
Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D
Nokia E7-00

The rubber grips on the D300s have expanded and are partially peeling off, but still fully functional nonetheless. The E7-00's camera royally sucks big time.

I've always had that lingering fear that the sensor could be permanently damaged by laser light, whether directly or reflected.

Anticipating those wide angled laser beamshots!

I'm having a hard time finding a place to develop the negatives though.

Good luck!

In my D90, the rubber grip had been peeling off too. The first time, I used the warranty service, and the second time, after the warranty was over, I used super glue to stick it back on. Ever since, it's been very usable. Might want to try that out if your camera is not serviceable for free.

I found out that it's quite hard to get a direct beam or a reflection through my lens and into the sensor even accidentally because I'm always self conscious of where it's hitting.

Cheers!

Thanks! I first tried double-sided adhesive but that didn't work. Super glue seems to be a non-reversible procedure to me so I'm still hesitating on that option.

As for the beam, well I'm always trying out newer angles and yeah I agree it's not a real hazard.:thanks:

Cool, a camera thread - Trevor, the 1dx is going to be a joy. Are you getting the 85L or 1.8? let me know how you like it if you do get the 1.2. I am tempted...

I shoot with a 1Ds mkii
and right now:
canon 17 - 40 f4
canon 50 f1.2
canon 28 - 70 f2.8

I'm tempted by the 1.2L also, but the problem is that the only time I use an 85 is for basketball. And in that case, 1.2 would produce great results - but the AF speed would just be too slow. Hence I'll probably go for the 1.8 for its bonkers AF speed.

A friend of mine who does more portraits than me is switching to Canon - he's probably getting the 85L and will let me test drive it. If I do, you'll hear from me. :D

Allegedly my camera should come tomorrow (to Richmond), but the UPS tracking hasn't moved in 3 days, and all it says is that it left Palatine, IL.

We'll see...

Agreed. I have three prime lenses for three cameras, it basically makes it so I don't have to switch all of the time. I mainly use the K110 D with the f/2 because they have the best compatibility (using on camera dials for aperture).

I got the K110 D and D70 for my birthday a few years back, and then my grandfather gave me his old Canon (which I don't use because the battery is toast), that's why I have 3 DSLRs. I mainly use Pentax though.

Just a little followup...

I just ran the 1DX at an open (American) football practice.

Oh. My. God.

The new AF is fantastic - even better than the 1D Mk. III I got used to driving. So long as I aim properly, I get the shot. Every. Single. Time.

Coupled with the subject isolation of the 400 2.8... wow. Just wow.

Congratulations!
Me so jelly!
I got to touch the 1DX just once and I vividly remember how awesome it was. :D

Post some cool photos! :thanks:

Cheers!
